You still can't grasp that the guy who puts seat in the stand and the guy that sells the PPV gets the bigger share of the money?

Has nothing to do with who is champ or who is the better boxer. Hell I don't care who gets what but professional boxing is business first and boxing 2nd. All I care about is the two guys getting in the ring and fighting. I never understand why boxing fan cry about who gets what. You fools ain't seeing a dime of it.

They sign the fights at these lopsided ends because it's not about what they're worth this fight, it's about what they're worth the next fight if they win.

    Cotto brings the money...

Anyway. Further shows how underpaid boxers are compared to other sports.

Martinez is not a draw and that was the only way he could get Cotto in the ring, same when he fought Chavez Jr. Something Ward needs to understand.

All these ppl getting riled up about 'right and wrong' need to grow up. This is a BUSINESS, people! And in terms of BUSINESS, titles in and of themselves mean fuk all. It's all about putting asses in seats and selling PPV's. Nothing new here.

Cotto speaks english and markets himself, promotes fights to wider audiences. Martinez doesn't do any promotion, speaks only spanish, what do you expect?

Also Martinez doesn't have leverage because he cannot afford to wait for this fight.

cotto is the bigger draw and has more options. golden boy reportedly offered him in excess of 10 mill for a fight with canelo but he turned it down to face martinez. meanwhile what options does martinez have? his team isn't interested in rematching chavez and they want no part of golovkin.

    couple of points -
    1. why cant there be "right and wrong" in business?

    2. Sergio fans will buy as many tickets as Cotto fans or very close.

If he has been shafted on the split Sergio should demand his fair share or walk away. Rather than collapse the fight - they would pay up. Ok Sergio might not be very popular for it - but he is not in boxing much longer so what does he care?

    Sergio will win by ko.

The pretentiousness of Cotto knows no bounds. The ******* even refers to himself in the third person.

Wow, I figured Sergio was making more than that. That's basically what he gets paid for his regular fights, granted there'll be ppv upside but this probably does a little over 500k buys.

And Cotto turned down around 10mill for Canelo, but GB probably wasn't offering him any ppv upside.
