I see all these threads about how many of you don't approve of catchweights, u say its bad for the sport, it shouldn't be allowed, its wrong, etc...well if that's the case then what do you have against the Mayweather-Marquez fight? It happened at the welterweight limit. If Marquez wants to fight a welterweight then fight at the limit and he did. What's the problem? Is the problem that he's fighting Floyd? I mean nobody complained about Manny fighting Marquez at the same welterweight limit? Or Bradley, or Alvarado.... it's only wrong for Marquez to fight Floyd at 147 right?

Really, what did Floyd have maybe a 5 pound weight advantage? :rofl

    After a 2 year layoff ? :rofl

Let me guess. Floyd came into that fight 160 right?

He came into the ring 150 like always. Marquez probably came in 146 or so. Seeing that he came into the ring against Juan Diaz at 145 on fight night.

You guys are crazy. Its okay for Floyd to fight guys with 15 pound weight advantages EVERY fight, but oh no, Floyd having a 5 pound weight advantage is such a big deal.

However you try to spin it, FMJ maneouvered an advantage against a naturally smaller fighter.

It was not a welterweight fight, it was a 144 fight.

    Yup

If it wasn't a catch weight why did Jmm get extra cash when Floyd failed to make weight

I agree that PBF has fought against much larger opponents, thats true.

However in this fight he pulled a ***** move. :hi:

So what. Everyone does that. He was coming off a 2 year layoff. He gave up 15 pounds to DLH, 14 to Ortiz, 17 to Maidana, 15 to Canelo 12 to Castillo both times. 17 to Corrales, and so on and so forth. If has a weight advantage for once in his career, so be it. :deal

I'll agree with you there. He probably should have came in at the agreed Limit, but its not like the man rehydrates much anyway.

It was worse because Mayweather changed the contract a day before weighin. Basically JMM trained knowing that he would fight at 144 while Floyd just blatantly disregarded it to get an advantage.
