I parallel Trinidad-Vargas to Chavez-Taylor 1. Vargas and Taylor being the undefeated American champs with the good amateur background, who fought hard-hitting, undefeated Latino champs who won titles in 3 divisions (2 at the time for Tito) and whom had much more experience. Both were classic fights which ended in 12th round TKOs for the more experienced champs. Both fights took something out of Vargas & Taylor. They had some decent wins and good performances afterwards (more so for Taylor, who had the 2nd best win of his career against Davis). Both of them generally took a lot of punishment in general. Which of the two fights was better?
Chavez, Taylor 1 was a better fight in my opinion... BTW , Taylor suffered more damage than Vargas did.... Taylor had broken bones in his grill, and swallowed a lot of blood, dumbass Duva should have stoped it after round 10 or 11 , Taylor took to many hard shots in that fight..
Trinidad vs Vargas was the better fight from an entertainment and parity side. Non stop action and both guys badly hurt each other. Taylor's pitter patter punches did no damage and the only one getting hurt in that fight was Meldrick. At the end Chavez didn't have a scratch on his face and Meldrick's face was hamburger meat and he was pissing blood.
That's why Taylor had such a short career, he was a pitty pat shotter, with a weak chin, he had no buainess in the ring with Chavez again...
Yes Taylor took a worse beating, it was grotesque. He still had more success though after Chavez than Vargas did after Tito. It helps that he was a better fighter to begin with.
