You have to give cotto credit but also realise that Martinez was there for the taking was only there for the money and the only hope he had was that he might be able to beat the smaller fighter through being the bigger man

Yeah they do. Slipping punches is done so from bending and twisting on the knees.
Every aspect of Boxing is all from the legs.
Sergio couldn't even punch because he was unable to pivot and turn his weight into his punches.

I get what your saying in your post but you might need to post things clearer as Johnny Foreigner won't always get what you mean

almost anybody in the top 20, of the Middleweight division, could've beaten Sergio that night.

He was not himself from the start of the fight.

Who cares? Martinez said he was 100% fit to fight. Cotto did his job and beat him, end of. Would you rather Cotto say "I don't want to fight him" and call it all off thinking Martinez had problems?

As a fighter, Martinez was the best he could be. He knew he was not right but that's his issue, Cotto just went to work and that's that.

    agreed.

but i gave cotto massive respect for stepping up and made it a reality.

if he didnt, we wont find out how bad martinez knees were.

Maybe. Cotto jumped on him very, very early and didn't stop bouncing left hooks off of Sergio's face.

In the end, I'd say that might be the more important factor. Sergio had been out of the ring for over a year, probably had to take it easy on training during that time. Cotto took advantage of that and didn't give him space or the ability warm back up and get his rhythm/timing down.

Or, just blame it entirely on his knees.

is this deja vu? Cotto did beat a knee injured Yuri Foreman to grab the WBA Junior Middleweight belt.
