HBO wants Cotto to fight Golovkin, Golovkin by knockout. Void will not come near Cotto. Quillin will not fight Cotto nor Golovkin. After Golovkin knocks Geale out, there is a good chance the will fight either Soliman for unification fight or Cotto for unification fight, but I doubt if Cotto has the balls to fight Golovkin...............

That's an interesting question. Canelo proved himself to be a better B side against Mayweather than Cotto did. However, Cotto has proven himself to be a better A side than Canelo. In the end, I think Cotto would have to be treated as the A side. Cotto is the more established fighter and has nothing to prove. Canelo is still young and trying to prove himself. I doubt Cotto would tolerate being treated as the B side against Alvarez.

Regardless, it would be a terrific fight if it came off. I think both guys are very strong and very intelligent fighters.

 

Canelo needs to get a win against a live body at MW before he gets a shot at the lineal middleweight champion.
Maybe he could fight a guy like Sergio Mora, or Marco Antonio Rubio to prove he's ready for a shot at the lineal title...at middleweight.

Oh, I know Cotto v Canelo generates plenty of pesos and Puerto Rican sea shells(or what ever currency they use:hey).
Either man makes money regardless of who they fight.
Canelo, where ever Mexicans will show up and Cotto where ever PRs show up.
Either one could fight anybody and get paid, because they bring the money.
Neither one of them need each other.
