In interviews, he seems to stress not wanting to get in a slugfest. He has used the term "masterful boxer" to define what he needs to be against Provodnikov.

That all sounds good, at least.

I like Algieri for the upset, too. He's tricky, possesses good hand and foot speed and has pronounced advantages in terms of height and reach. He can throw a crap-load of punches on the move without really tiring, too. He's similar to Herrera in terms of style...and no matter what anyone says, that style did give Provo some difficulty.

It could be close, but I get the impression that Algieri is tough enough to survive a late surge and probably banks some close rounds simply because he's fighting in his own back yard.

Algieri UD (115-113 kind of scores)

Odds are 7-1 on the fight. Anything is possible, though.

If Chris uses his skills, doesn't panic and if he can take Ruslan's shots i give him a great chance.

The first two points are possible. The third is not.

(JacK Rauber) He's gonna get hit and how he takes the shots will determine if he's ready for this level.

Ruslan is a lot faster than people give him credit for.

Opponents always seem surprised when they get hit by him.

Agreed. I haven't gone back and rewatched the Algieri fight I saw but my recollection is Algieri is not a big puncher and appeared somewhat fragile, not in appearance, the way he is built, but more the way the took shots. This is why I give Ruslan a good shot at knocking CA out. The oddsmakers support this.

Algieri does have a awkward style, he also looks unsteady and clumsy at times also. I wouldn't be surprised if Ruslan stopped him early either.

Starting to rethink this as the fight draws closer. Algieri has the style to trouble Provo...but I wonder if he's going to be able to withstand the assault once Ruslan starts to make contact. :think

I think it will be close on the cards, but I could easily see Provo scoring a late stoppage. Be interesting to see what unfolds.

If you're talking about who got "rocked" in that fight I'm pretty sure its not Provodnikov....

Algeri can't evade Ruslan for 12 rounds. Provo levaes no space to get away. Late stoppage loss.
