It's painfully obvious to me many of you have never put on a pair of handwraps, much less stepped into a ring.

You can have just bad nights
You can come into the ring cold
You can get caught and everything fall apart

I'd personally like to see a rematch to solidify Cotto as beating Martinez and it not being just him getting caught cold in the first round and trying to fight outta a huge hole.

The real question is: Why didn't Cotto finish Martinez? Why did he let him off the hook after Martinez was hurt early?

Cotto has always had an issue finishing the fight with energy.

Martinez like Calzeghe and Margrito tend to "take over" the fight when the other guy starts to tire.

Cotto was fighting a 12 round fight, he didnt wanna go for the finish and get KOed later from being gassed

yeah and you can also take a fight with your knees being torn up from years of sports. "Getting caught cold" you realize martinez has regularly been punched in the mouth by 190+ over 6 feet tall men and has never looked that bad right? Do you have any clue how hard pavlik hit? How hard p will hit with those long arms?

but yeah, 5'6 150lb cotto was just too much for martinez :nut

In my very humble opinion ***y lost his fight against Murray who is not a world beater. So it is not surprising he lost against Cotto. It's sad but he is over the hill and his body is failing him down.

Do you realize Cotto is a Southpaw fighting Orthodox? Martinez is a Southpaw used to fighting Orhodox fighters who are Orthodox. 99% of Martinez's fights he has the advantage in the jab game... this was that 1%

Cotto is faster then everyone else Martinez has fought (at least lately). He is a Southpaw Orthodox so his jab is heavier and better then Martinez, and Martinez isnt used to that.

The things that made Martinez look good fighting bigger slower fighters, are the same things that caught Martinez off guard.

A big part of being able to take a punch is seeing it coming.

He admitted himself that the punch messed him up.. Why are you trying to argue this?

Healthy or not he took the fight...heck he wanted the fight. Couldn't wait to put Cotto in his place. Now everyone is saying Cotto got lucky? No one forced Sergio into the ring. I don't know about his knee, he's a big boy and can make his own decisions. What I do know is he signed on the dotted line. I don't care if he's knees where replaced with space shuttle metal, Cotto rang his bell in round one, and it kept ringing all night. Some say at night if you listen close you can still hear that bell in Sergio's head....ring....ring...

This is the same crap Pac got after DLH. DLH is the one who presented the fight too. And all they whine about is that DLH went down 1 weight class always forgetting that Pac was a 135lber at the time.

Same thing here. Martinez offered 159 to draw Cotto in. Sergio whined about feelings, calling Cotto a diva and crap. Then he gets concussed right after the bell, is spaced out most of the fight.

And Cotto gets no respect for it. ESB as usual.

Yeah, because if Martinez was paid to lose, he would stand in the ring and be beaten on for another 8 rounds, instead of just laying down after the third KO, and no one would have said anything.

or if the Ref was bought, he could have stopped the fight after the third KO, and no one would have said anything.

What exactly are you trying to imply?
