Sergio Martinez Discharged @ 5:00AM: Broken Nose, BOTH Knee's Fine per MRI!!!!!!

Not entirely false...remember when Vinny Paz broke his neck & came back to boxing. After every fight he had his neck checked by doctors, including MRI & Scans.

Sometimes when fighters have injuries, and go to the hospital for other injuries its common for the doctor to check the previous injury (even if healed) for any type of minor symptoms or re-injury.

 

its not that he hurt his knee in that fight, its that his knee is shot from surgeries

 

Sergio's knee(s) were shot to **** and most likely his movement is gone forever.

Yep. I always hear Sugar Ray Leonard talking about how fighters tend to become more susceptible to temple shots once they get up in age. I think this was one of those type of shots. Not only that, but Martinez went down awkwardly on that first knockdown and his head crashed into the canvas. A few rounds later he was asking for ice on his neck. This is a quote from Samspon Lewkowicz to The Ring :

I think that initial knockdown had every thing to do with that and is being overlooked by a lot of people. Because to me it didn't look like Martinez's knees were totally shot. It looked more like he had no confidence in them. Guys with serious knee problems usually don't make it to their feet as easily or as quickly as Martinez did when he had been knockdown, or if they do, they visibly show some type of discomfort.

 

You guys, it was a CT scan, not an MRI. I'm interested in the report and images. Does "negative" mean his knees had inflamed, but not torn, ligaments? Or does it mean everything was normal?

 

I watched it again. The left hook by Cotto disconnected his head. But when Martinez pops back up, there is no hesitation and no concern over his legs. At the second knockdown, Martinez's legs are completely wobbly. He's got no footing. The whole time, he makes no gestures to check his legs as in they hurt or are injured. I also think that Martinez's freakishly large shorts hides his knees from view the first time watching the fight. But upon the subsequent viewings you can clearly see he has no visible problems with mobility or bending of his knees.

Watch the fight again and key on his knees. No problems imo. I dunno if ppl are expecting cat-like reactions while his head is concussed by the heavy shots from Cotto. Also, Martinez has terrible footwork, he's off balance and set to fall it seems. He works from his heels and not his toes. His footwork is a farcry from Pac's.

 

He looked like he had unstable knees throughout the fight and was wearing a brace, which is a good indicator that the knee was shaky. It doesn't mean there was a specific injury, but just an unstable joint from wear and tear.

 

Seems more like you are looking for something that you have no evidence of. The only one who would know would be Sergio and his team/doctors. The guy says that he never recovered from the first knockdown, but you say it's his knees. He showed no loss of mobility as afar as I can tell. Maybe he would have looked more of the same had he fought someone which allowed him to showboat with his hands down, lol. He wouldn't get very far with Cotto fighting like that.

Sergio wound up on his ass without being hit later in the fight. Maybe several times, I don't really remember. And we have reference for his recuperative ability in previous fights. Last Saturday was way different.

 

Ok. If you tell me after the 5th round the knees were bad I might say yes. But don't tell me that had anything to do with what happened in the first round. When the knees started hurting that was Cotto's fight already.

 

By the way, After the lost to Trout a lot of people were saying the same thing about Cotto. Saying he was shot. And his last opponent was a nobody. So, if Cotto was shot and Martinez was shot, then it should have been a close fight......... Just saying
