Foreman is all wrong for Smokin' Joe. Same result every time. Foreman also starches Tyson with some big uppercuts. Really the only way to have beaten the prime Foreman was to wear him out with the rope a dope, as Ali smartly did.
he couldn't even beat ali durring his elvis phase, imagine if he faced the ali who went against cleveland williams
Why such a thread? Foreman has already beaten Frazier at prime and would have always have beaten Frazier..............
Very unlikely. I mean if it was the 1910s and they had to fight each other 15 times like Langford, Mcvey, Jeanette, etc...often did, well yeah Frazier might win a couple. But I think out of all the great HWs, Foreman was probably the WORST matchup for Frazier.
ali was the champ when he faced Leon Spinks. He was the champion. Leon Spinks was the underdog. so Ali was in his prime right?
Frazier weighed 10 pounds heavier in the Foreman fight than he did in his win over Ali. After winning the "fight of the century", Frazier felt like he was God and started partying and eating, and stopped training seriously. Foreman was probably sent to him by God to teach him a lesson. Prime for prime, Frazier would have made it an inside fight, and Foreman would have been virtually helpless. Foreman was always limited in terms of boxing skill. All he really had in his early days was power from long range.
You would think that a 29-0 fighter, 2 fights removed from the biggest and best win of his career (and one of the best wins in HW history), would be in his prime. I thought so too, but I started reading more stuff about Frazier and that time period. Frazier almost died after the Ali fight and spent a long time in the hospital. He had some pre-existing conditions that were excrabated by the grueling fight. According to "Ghosts of Manila", Frazier's trainers and managers were concerned about how he looked after FOTC, both physically and mentally. But the only thing different I think if you had Frazier at his peak against Foreman, would be that he lands some more decent shots and lasts some more rounds. Foreman still stops him.
