Cotto knocked down someone with a shot leg. His KNEE just had surgery last year, you really think it was like it used to be?

But why does the injuries MATTER NOW ???

Martinez with injuries still should have given Cotto a beating .
that's what everyone said remember ?

People didn't think his knee would be a problem. Damn near everyone was talking about how if he's healthy he'd win. You guys act like no one was discussing his injuries prior to the fight.

Well in that case both Cotto and Martinez beat Martinez.

I'm sorry I may have missed something last Saturday.....let me get this correct.

So, Martinez was the only one in the ring and slipped on a banana peel?

Or was Cotto in the ring as well and beat the **** out of him!!!!

You mean to tell me the previous TWO injuries, the surgery in 2013, and the knee brace Martinez NEEDED had no effect in this fight?

Martinez has always relied on mobility and agility to win fights.

Without the ability to move quickly on his feet and change levels, he is simply not a good boxer at all. Most people aren't, but with his style it's even worse.

He should retire, but it sounds like they're determined to get another payday out of him.

I'm taking his trainer's, promoter and Martinez at their word!!!

    Their word contradicts your speculation!!!

Do you have any idea how important your knees are when boxing?

I've had ankle injuries before and had to wear a brace. Even though I can walk, run, etc, my usual mobility is gone. One wrong move and BAM it's pain or it's stiff. The man is 39 years old and had surgery on his knees, NO DOCTOR can repair you 100%. Everyone was talking about how Cotto was shot when he fought Mayweather and he had no injuries years later. Martinez was not 100%, doesn't matter what they say, look at the fight and compare it with his last fight.

I think he felt good going into the fight but over-estimated his leg. Nobody is 100% after surgery like that and a history of injury. I wish he would've had a tune up.

Im pretty sure that HARD left hook to the temple is what wobbled his legs and dropped Martinez .

That no doubt had something to do with it .

And yes im very aware everyone was talking about Martinez injuries prior to the fight .

And this is what there were saying about the injuries....

"Sergio still knocks Cotto out with all his injuries ! Even with bad legs , Cotto is way in over his head , Martinez has enough left and with his proven power @ 160 Cotto will not go the distance "

Yup that's more or less what 75% of all of you were saying .

Cotto fought intelligent but Sergio's knees couldn' hold up his g.a.y.n.e.s.s.. Let's please close the chapter of this annoying chapter on the history of the MW Division and doing so on the career of once called Maravilla Sergio Martinez. F*** the guy and f*** the nature of these threads.

Martinez is the naturally bigger fighter. If he came in knowing his knees were going to limit his mobility than he should have had a game plan to adapt. Perhaps use his size advantage or pressure Cotto a bit more. He was medically cleared to fight and he made no excuses before, during or after the fight.

Give Miguel his credit and keep it moving.

Why guys making excuses when the boxer himself isn't??

I said the same thing, but the reason he was so easy to hit was his knee! lol what don't you get about that? People accept that Pacquiao under performs because of leg cramps but Martinez had surgery and you guys act like that wasn't a factor.

And for the record, I don't care what those people said, I didn't say that. My prediction was, IF HE'S HEALTHY, he'd win by KO.

I never said him wobbling wasn't due to Cotto punching him. Credit to Cotto he fought well and with power, but the fact is, Martinez had a bad leg. Injured on June 7th or not, his mobility was gone.

It isn't in Martinez's nature to make excuses. Anyone who's seen his fights knows he wasn't the same after his surgery.
