Unfortunately without the major trophy nobody in the future will give GGG credit for being the best MW in the current era.

I'm a little shocked to see so many people on GGG's side here. I have to wonder if a lot of Sergiosectuals who feel Cotto's win was illegitimate are now looking for someone to do to Cotto what Sergio could not.

A Golovkin win over Cotto would be by far the best win of Golovkin's career and is not at all a given.

I believe GGG is the best current middleweight, although achievement wise Cotto is better.
Imo Golovkin would be more successful if he were with Top Rank / GBP.

From a list of the 8 top middleweights, GGG got 87% of the votes.

That means very few people are fooled by the hype surrounding that farce we saw on Saturday.

The real MW champion is Gennady Golovkin. Long live reality!

Golovkin by a country mile! Unlike Cotto, he'd have beat a prime, and injury free, Martinez too.

It's a damn shame when you have three or more guys who refuse to face other top opponents in the division. Sturm, Quillen, and Martinez. Sturm and Martinez got what they ****ing deserved for ducking Pirog before he was injured, and Golovkin. Both thought they were getting soft touches. Sturm lost clearly, and Martinez got embarrassed for picking on a smaller man. Lou DiBella had people drinking the Martinez Koolaid for years. DiBella himself knew he was a little over rated. It is why he paid the sanctioning body to get Barker rated in the top 15, so Martinez could fight him on HBO, instead of having to face Pirog, or Golovkin. If you noticed, every guy that was supposed to be easy work for Martinez, he struggled with, besides a few seconds in the Chavez fight. I am glad that Cotto beat Martinez. I don't like champions that don't have the balls to test their skill against the best available opposition. Martinez had the title too long to not have fought Golovkin.

    Cotto is the MW champion.

Golovkin would likely beat him, but by no stretch of the imagination is he the actual MW king right now.

Have to say Golovkin is the best Middleweight on that list.

Looking through the names there is a reminder that the division is relatively weak at the moment.

Extremely weak, and you have guys refusing to face the other top guys. Martinez, and Sturm both got what was coming to them.
