Andre Ward " Sergey Kovalev is not a pay per view fight"

Sad to see that talent go to waste.

He is not going to get any more fans and he is going to lose the ones he currently has if he continues to refuse to take the best fights out there. By fighting so rarely and refusing the best fights he is also missing out on a lot of money he could be earning.

What has Goosen done for Ward since?

Mick Hennesey got Carl Froch into the Super Six. Carl still left him as his career was begnning to stagnate under Hennesey.

Goosen cannot promote Ward like he ought to be promoted.

Freaking old Grand'pa Hopkins is taking more challenges than Ward. You would expect that at his age Hopkins would just go for easy payday but good old Hopkins is going for the unification, at 50 for criss sake! Ward on the other hand is just going for easy payday while he should try to go at it with the big guns. He is still in his 20s.

Comparing Hopkins to Ward just make it more obvious that Ward is now just trying to sit on his S6 win and expect he can go on and expect easy fight since he already achieved the superstar status.

Ward is a great fighter but doesn't like playing without a stacked deck.

 

If the money were right I'm sure Ward would have taken the fight. He is offering his opinion based on what the networks told him the fight was worth.
No matter what any fool says, Ward's name is 10x larger and better known than Kovalev's.:yep

 

He's taking more fights and challedges than GGG and Kovalev also, and let's not pretend that Ward isn't going through legal contract issues while GGG and Kovalev don't have that excuse.

Maybe Ward can't get any PPV fights because he's pissed away his prime being a whiny diva.

 

Hey Andre, I got news for you. Kovalev is in much higher demand than you are, so if you think he is "not a PPV fight" you only have to look in the mirror for the reason.

Why do people watch boxing? Because they love the footwork, the elegance of dancing around the ring, the hugging, the camaraderie, the ambiance?

Hell, NO! They want to see a fight. Unlike Ward, Kovalev brings it. People want to see him fight. They could care less about Ward. The only reason people tune in to a Ward fight is to see the 0 go. Kovalev could help do that.

 

Depends on WHICH group of people's motives you are asking about.
Boxing fans come in different shades;

type 1. UFC/MMA fans who prefer wrestling but have some interest in strikes but fail to understand the science of boxing

type 2. Casual boxing fans who tune in because it s featured on their network's sports channel but have never boxed or been in a boxing ring.

type 3. Fanatic boxing fans who follow the sport, know the fighters but have no ability or unable to compete in boxing.

type 4. True boxing fans who enjoy the science of boxing, the art, the styles and the techniques. This level usually has boxed or at least trained in boxing via gyms, etc.


I'm in the latter group while it sounds like you are in the very first group.
