I know people tend to romanticize Satterfield but consistently losing and getting KO'd during Marciano's run did not help his cause.
Obviously we would have to favour Marciano strongly. The only question is whether Satterfield has a chance? That is a narrow, but interesting possibility.
I,ve seen a movie about Satterfield some years ago , with Samuel l Jackson. forgot the tittle though. good movie , very realistic
should be a good action fight while it lasted, Bob KO'd Bob Baker pretty nice and KO'd a 31-1 Cleveland "Big Cat" Williams but lost in a war to Rex Layne (who got ruined by Rocky) but the electric KO loss to Ezz C in 2 after rocking Ezz was a pretty brutal loss. Bob had a great win over Nino around the time Marciano beat Moore, Bob dropped Nino pretty hard for a 9 count in the last round ruining Nino's chances at being number 50 for Marciano and I dont think they could have made a big money fight out of Bob vs Marciano because of Bob's losses to Ezz,Moore and Layne who Marciano beat
Marciano KO's Satterfield in 3 rds. Satterfield while dangerous puncher was also known as glass-jawed and he was k0'd early 9 times I think.
What is so hard to understand. Satterfield consistently lost big fights, generally by KO. They would have fought for the title if Satterfield had beaten Charles, but he got KO'd in two.
Satterfiled was a party animal.Marciano, commenting on one of his fights,[think it was Layne,]said if he got in condition he would win a lot more. Too chinny to beat Rocky but he might drop him briefly. Then Rocky's tongue would come out, he would go into overdrive, and Satterfield would be Scatterfield.
Rocky had the much better chin and was the bigger guy but Joe Louis actually said he felt Satterfield was the better puncher ... that being said Marciano was the far more complete guy ...
