Shavers was a big puncher. Koed 68 opponents. But who said he was a world beater :think

Ali's record speaks for itself :good

Clay's record should really be 52-9. Not close to the 66-3 brown bomber who had 25 titles defences (most in history) was courageous enough to enlist in the war effort unlike Clay (who used the 60's counter culture movement to justify his cowardice), 52 Kos to Clay's 37 (most Tkos with the fighter still conscious with some questionable stoppages) and gave Walcott a rematch after he got jobbed unlike Clay who ran away from giving Norton his fairly earned rematch.

Then they say Clay is the "greatest"...well he actually said it for years and then ppl just started believing him.

The real top 5 ATG heavyweights are:
    1.Joe Louis
    2.Wladimir Klitschko
    3.Rock Marciano
    4.Lennox Lewis
    5.Larry Holmes

All these guys would destroy Clay and one already did! :bbb

Tyson in his prime in 1988 with Rooney in his corner would knock Clay out in less than 3 rounds. All time he suffers though because he couldn't maintain his level of excellence. :bbb

Hey Il Duce/Senor Pepe how long before you get banned from this forum for a third time? Fresh off your ban from Boxrec and every other forum youve ever been on?

I don't know who you are talking about. I'm just here espousing my opinions..you got a problem with that? Do my opinions on Cassius Clay offend you? Was it the part on about the gift decisions he got? Him being a draft dodging coward? Or how a prime Tyson would light him up? I haven't done anything that would merit banning, I am simply stating my opinions...like every other palooka on this site does. :bbb

Smith just ran the whole fight to survive, Tucker had a good defence and was game but only won a couple of rounds, Green fought just to survive like Smith and lost every minute of every round.

Clay didn't like pressure fighters or guys that would jab. Tyson's pressure bob n weave style and hard jab would get to him. Clay had no defence other than his speed, Tyson would match him here. Bad fight for Clay imo.

Tyson slips Clay's left jab and crushs with a big left hook. He gets up at 6. Fight resumes...He's down again. Clay pauses on one knee visibly in shock. He gets up again only to be put down again with another devastating left hook, this fight is over...Mike Tyson KO 3. Clay was a sucker for the quick left hook over the jab and Tyson would be the perfect fighter to deliver it to the target. :bbb

An Ali-Tyson fight would be very competitive for five rounds or so. After Tyson realises Ali's not going anywhere,I can see him getting very frustrated an leaving more and more openings for Muhammad's right hands.

I don't think it lasts 5 rounds. Whatever happens Ali is getting hurt bad. He was too open for the left hook. If Cooper can floor Clay then Tyson could really hurt him badly. Ali has no power to keep Tyson at bay.

I read a recent interview where Shavers said he thought it was fair and that Ali. It's unusual, most fighters will say they should have won when it was a close fight.

And I scored it for Shavers 9-6.

He probably was just being humble. After the fight he said he thought he won.

Fsn man you are highly biased. If it was only rounding down to ~ 180 lbs. I would say OK just being a fan. But who fought as many quality guys than Ali? Including plenty of "boxer-punchers".

Some hype guys & others are reactionaries incapable of being fair & balanced.
And just because someone is hyped does not nesessarilu show that the accolades are not overwhelmingly deserved. Most all of the greatest athletes are "hyped", was Jordan & Lebron overrated? NO, you can look at measures of how much they produced overall on offense & defense & per year in total value, win shares, efficiency ratio, & see they ARE the best ever, unless you count perhaps when competition was not as good (overall size & play level) during Wilt's & Kareem's time.

The GAIN of truth in what you say is Ali did not have as great a chin early on.
But he did get up & absorbed killing punishment from many starting from Liston at least.

I would rate his chin an A & will an a +. Not an A + chin, that rare accolade is reserved for genetic marvels, overwhelmingly with a squat build, that were virtually impossible to topple.
Chuvalo, McCall, Mercer, Tua, usually a low center of gravity.

Yes you are correct about the Rumble in the Jungle.
It is fair to say WOULD ali have won, or so handily, with neutral ropes & no hanging & pulling on George? In his prime he would have not needed this.
    But it was not close.
