Calzaghe and Wa55en did all they could to fight Ottke, even saying they would do the fight in Germany, but Ottke and his team didn't want it. one minute they said they did want the fight, so arrangements were made. they wouldn't do it. the next, they're saying that Calzaghe wasn't their priority. there are contradicting comments coming out of the Ottke camp. they knew that Sven couldn't beat Joe, so they made out they wanted it, only to back off when Wa55en tried to make it. they were just trying to save face. it didn't matter anyway. anyone with a brain knew that Joe was for real, and Ottke just looking to stay on top in any way he could.
i have no idea why you reply in this way to this freak. he hates Welsh people for some reason, so he's not going to take the truth on board and stop writing the **** he does. you're wasting your time with him.
the reason to why the Barr fight never happened, even though he was mandatory, was due to him not wanting it. Calzaghe didn't have a choice in whether the fight happened or not, but Barr did. when Mger beat Barr to take the mandatory slot, he wanted to fight Joe. which is why Joe got in there with him. it had nothing to do with the amount of money the Germans were offering. it had everything to do with the fact that Sky wouldn't pay for the fight due to what happened in the first fight, and with Joe not getting the fights he wanted while holding a title. because if he refused the rematch with Veit, he would have been stripped. then where would Joe have been? he isn't getting the fights when he has a title, he sure as hell isn't going to get the fights without one.
bailey, How's it going? I've missed your posts. :good You bet wrong. But I'm just pointing out that back in the late 90's, the WBO belt wasn't respected. Nothing you say will change that. I lived through it all, and I know. You can say what you want. But it wasn't respected and Joe's division was seen as weak. Your boxrec stats won't change history. Yes, I do think the fighter is more important than the title. Both MAB and Naz were far bigger names than Joe when they fought for it. That's the difference. How many times have we been through this? It was Joe himself in 2004, that said he knew he needed to go up. Once again, he didn't possess psychic powers. You always claim that he changed his mind to fight Lacy and Kessler instead. But when Joe made his comments, both of those guys had hardly done anything. If he wanted bigger fights at LHW, and recognition in 2004, the likes of Tarver should have been at the top of his wish list. Yet he said he wanted nothing to do with him, because he'd done nothing apart from beating a washed up version of Roy.
i love the fact you got beat down by a Welsh man. you deserved every punch you got hit with. it's either that or your Girlfriend cheated on you with someone from Wales. :yep ****!
for two days, we're on the same page. you haven't been drinking Whisky by any chance have you? :think
:huh where does Joe react "poorly" to Froch's recent win???? or is that the way you want to view it because, like many others on here, you have a huge problem with Calzaghe??? either way it's bull**** what you're saying. if anyone has a problem with the other, with a long list of bitter comments, it's Carl Froch.
you lived through it all in the 90's??? why have you got most of your knowledge from posters from this very site then??? by the way you used to ask questions, you mustn't have had to live through much. but then again, it's probably the usual bollocks from you.
The comments that I've read recently show Joe being a little bitter. But that's perfectly understandable. Carl's in the spotlight taking the plaudits, while Joe's sat at home. Joe has a huge ego, as does Carl. It's also funny that James Degale is now in the position that Carl was in, in 2007. Joe dismissed him back then because he wanted bigger money fights. Now Carl is doing the exact same thing.
What? I gain knowledge on boxing as each month and year goes by, as should you and everyone else. I'm 34, and started watching boxing in 1988. When Joe won the WBO in 1997, I was already a hardcore fan, and I loved Frank W's cards of that era.
