That's around £60,000. Take off trainer %, manager % and tax and it probably leaves equal to a decent annual salary.

Where does he go from here, he's still a young man?

It is a double sided sword situation. On one hand you cant blame Eddie for getting his fighter the chance, or for fighter taking it. On other hand it is embarrassing for British boxing, makes us look really poor on World Stage.

How long do you think it'd take him to make that sort of money ordinarily?

These fighters claim they want title shots, they are the worlds best etc, well like men before him and will after he got a shot at proving that.

To say its an embarrasment to british boxing is poor form really. Many would consider Froch our best fighter atm and he is a level below the worlds best at his weight. Cleverly, belt holder for years, stepped up and got beat, Burns had a belt and fought as holder for a long time yet still got outclassed on the world stage.

These are all great British boxers, the fact they got beat when stepping upto World Title level is not an embarrasment even if the fights themselves were one sided.

Brian Rose , like Bellew, Purdy etc got the chance to fight the very best or at least title holder. Thats what will go down in history, not Britain being embarrased. Fact is our boxers atm as a nation (on the whole) are not elite and all our promoters can do is guide them to where they want to be -in in a title fight. Which of those 3 would ever have been good enough to be champ at their weight?

Yes we do have good prospects but hell Francis Jeffers was one of those so lets wait and see and as always, hope......

I don't think it's Eddie Hearn who is making the British boxers an embarrassment, he's giving them great opportunities and good paydays and if they perform badly it's their fault. If you want to say it's an embarrassment for them getting a shot then it's the fault of the organisations for rating them so highly and putting someone like Brian Rose into a mandatory position. I'm sure Rose will be thanking Eddie for the opportunity giving him a chance to go to New York, live in luxury for the past week, box at the Barclays Center in front of a large crowd and get paid a lot of money.

People on here don't wan't boxers to be hyped and fed easy fights, they don't want them to step up and dare to try - how can a boxer satisfy a crowd like this?
Brian Rose boxed who he had to to get the shot and took it. He was beaten by a man who was better. No embarrassment there.
It is a shame that it wasn't a better payday as by the time expenses and tax are taken care of there isn't much left.

I agree with everything you've written here except I want to make sure I understand your point about Froch.

I am no Froch fan boy and I am probably being a bit punctuation an*l retentive.

However, I wouldn't agree with you if you mean "the worlds best" to be plural. If you're meaning the world's best ie just Andre Ward then fair dos.

I don't think it's unfair to consider Froch the world's 2nd best at his weight.

Apologies i do indeed mean Froch is the 2nd best in the world, Ward being number 1

Highest payday, and lost a fight everybody knew he would lose anyway. I don't get why people are moaning. So he lost, who cares - he'll go back down to domestic/European level (with half his mortgage paid off).

I really don't know. Does he have another income outside of boxing? My point was just that it's not as much as it looks when you analyse it.

Rose was ranked and by the system, had earned his right to fight for the title.

Yeah he was out gunned and yeah we all knew he wasn't in the world class bracket, but fair play to Rose he went for it, it didn't pay off but when he looks back on his career it's not to shabby to be able to say "I fought for the world title".

I like Hearn, I admire him for getting title shots for guys who wouldn't otherwise get them based on talent.

Like Rose, nice guy who works very hard but isn't world class but despite that, he deserves to make some decent money boxing. It's nice to see a guy like him get a shot. Hearn's very good at pulling strings to get title shots for guys on his roster.

This. The boxers look like what they are. If they're good they look good, if they're bad they look bad. Nothing to do with Hearn.
