it's hard to realy assess the selling power of floyd. his fights that made money were all against mexican or mexican-american fighters and the fights were held on mexican holidays. let him fight a non-hispanic fighter on a non-mexican holiday and it will show a clearer picture of his drawing power.

Neither Jones or Pac have achieved the distinction of being the world's highest paid athlete 3 years in a row. Especially while earning more money in each consecutive year.
Soon Floyd will enter his 4th year and earning even more.
Naw, neither Pac nor Jones done that and never will.

ya see one man says "his earnings dont mean anything...it how he sells that matters"

then when you point out how well he sells...its starts to get loaded...mexican fighters/holidays yadda yadda

id say floyd/cotto sold very well....is cotto mexican? oh that was a mexican holiday!...he fights canelo and does like 2.2-2.4....but thats cause canelo is a big mexican draw.....so how many buys did canelos fight vs angulo do? 350k? well let me guess thats cause angulo isnt a big name opponent? which is what floyd is.....it will always be something

the numbers dont lie....floyd is a draw...his live gate for maidana did almost twice as much as pac/bradley 2

doesnt matter what i believe are his career defining wins...you are going to disagree no matter what and shoot em down...cause you arent reasonable

but that was a nice attempt before and tryna get at me...and it was a fail

Which is a matter of opinion on your part.

de la Hoya Mayweather holds the PPVs sold record. That qualifies as a "career defining win" in my book.

That's only if you compare one of Pacquiao's weakest earning years with one of Floyd's best. Pac had a lay off, then fought two guys who weren't draws, one out of country. That's not how this usually goes. Here's their pay per view history in viewers.

3/19/05 PPV Manny Pacquiao vs Erik Morales I 340,000
6-25-05 PPV Floyd Mayweather vs Arturo Gatti 365,000
1/21/06 PPV Erik Morales Manny Pacquiao II 350,000
    4/8/06 PPV Floyd Mayweather-Zab Judah 375,000
    10/21/06 PPV Floyd Mayweather-Carlos Baldomir 325,000
11/18/06 PPV Manny Pacquiao vs Erik Morales III 350,000
4/14/07 PPV Manny Pacquiao vs Jorge Solis 200,000
5/5/07 PPV Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather 2,400,000
10/6/07 PPV Manny Pacquiao vs Marco Antonio Barrera II 350,000
12/8/07 PPV Floyd Mayweather vs. Ricky Hatton 920,000
3/15/08 PPV Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez II 400,000
6/28/08 PPV Manny Pacqiao vs. David Diaz 250,000
12/6/08 PPV Oscar De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao 1,250,000
5/2/09 PPV Ricky Hatton vs. Manny Pacquiao 825,000
9/19/09 PPV Floyd Mayweather vs. Juan Manuel Márquez 1,060,000
11/14/09 PPV Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto 1,250,000
5/13/10 PPV Manny Pacquiao vs. Joshua Clottey 700,000
5/1/10 PPV Floyd Mayweather vs. Shane Mosley 1,400,000
11/13/10 PPV Manny Pacquiao vs. Antonio Margarito 1,150,000
9/17/11 PPV Floyd Mayweather vs. Victor Ortiz 1,250,000
11/13/11 PPV Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez III 1,250,000
5/5/12 PPV Floyd Mayweather vs. Miguel Cotto 1,500,000
6/9/12 PPV Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley 700,000
12/8/12 PPV Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Márquez IV 1,150,000
5/4/13 PPV Floyd Mayweather vs. Robert Guerrero 875,000
9/14/13 PPV Floyd Mayweather vs. Saúl Álvarez 2,200,000
11/24/13 PPV Manny Pacquiao vs. Brandon Rios 475,000

It helps if you look at what they usually earn and their draw potential rather than picking out the high and low numbers of their careers. Also, Floyd earns his check as a promoter from which he has to pay everyone else so his take home is less than stated.
