Exactly. Jimmy Bivins is being discredited as LHW/sometimes cruiser for being the same weight as Marciano. Know idea what the hell is going on here.

Marciano was older than 4 of his rated opponents: Layne, LaStarza, Matthews, and ****ell. And less than two years younger than Charles.

The idea postulated by another poster that Marciano and Charles were only a couple of years apart in age and therefore about equal is ridiculous.Marciano was having his 45th and 46th fights when he met Charles. Charles was a shop worn fighter with 94 and 95 fights worth of mileage on his clock.

You can't contrast the amount two fighters are supposedly "shop worn" based on their total number of fights. That's crude guess work at best.

Maricano had a laundry list of injuries before he even took up boxing. Being an underzied swarmer, he took a great deal of punishment in his first 45 fights despite winning them all. Even his fights with Muscato and Simmons were described as wars. One could even point to the Shkor fight and its lingering effects on the rest of Rocky's career. Did not Charles reopen the same scar in the rematch? That's more concrete than what you are proposing.
