This is a fight where I can't pick Joe.

 

This place is getting out of control....Joe was awesome but he gets crushed in this match up. Ridiculous

 

veit was **** in the first place. how a 4-6 rounder king got even one title shot is still a mystery to this day, but a 2nd one, being officially sanctioned by the wbo, just underlines how poor the wbo was back then.

 

Im sorry , I just don't think much of Calzaghe .

I think even flawed Edison Miranda back in his day when he laying everyone out would beat Joe down .

Calzaghe was a very average fighter in my eyes .

Calzaghe never legitimately beat a great fighter (Hopkins robbery).

Eubank and Jones = past prime, near the end, and shot

Kessler - good. not great.

washed up Jones knocked that bum down. prime Spinks destroys him

 

I'd pick Calzaghe in that one, and I don't think it would be close.

I do think Calzaghe was a very good fighter, but simply not on the level of Michael Spinks.

Very few fighters were.

 

You believe Calzaghe can withstand the punching power of Miranda for 36 minutes ?

It only took both Roy/B hop 1 round to put Calzaghe down with just 1 punch from both .

And at that point of their careers , Bernard and Roy were very average punchers .

Miranda would have came at Calzaghe from the opening bell .

Even Kessler himself never beat a Great fighter .

Froch/Kessler 1 could have easily gone the other way .

Despite that , Froch is good not Great .

 

Naw. Calzaghe is better than David Banks man.

The idea that, in some people's minds, Calzaghe wins all of these fantasy match ups is preposterous. But he'd beat Edison Miranda with ease. I don't think he'd win a round. His power was his only weapon.

Miranda lost to a lot of guys not in Calzaghe's class.

 

I don't think much of Miranda.

Calzaghe was at the end of his career, and plus, Hopkins hit him with a perfectly timed and placed shot early on. Miranda doesn't have the skills to land something that well-timed. Roy's was a freakish punch, he hit him with the wrist/forearm.

And these fights were at LHW.

Miranda was a pretty limited slugger. Kessler was far better. Lacy was probably better too.

 

His power was his only weapon , you are right .

But I believe Joe would be vulnerable to Mirandas power .

Edison can easily hurt/drop Joe the min he connects.

Theres also debate that Calzaghe lost to mediocre opposition in Robin Reid .

So I don't see why losing to a knockout artist like Edison Miranda is completely out of the question TBH .

 

The classic puncher's chance, I'd give him.

But that could be said for almost any fight when a guy has power. His power was really only special at MW. Once he went above that, it wasn't the weapon it had been. And he didn't have the skills to make up for it. If he did, I doubt he would have lost so many fights.

 

I would definetely favor Super Joe over Miranda. Its just like the Jones Jr vs. Carl Froch comparisson.. Two different levels of fighters.
