Canelo didn't fight that way because he was dumb (as a matter of fact, Canelo is a very smart fighter), he primarily fought like that because he has suspect stamina. Canelo's stamina is his achilles heel.

I've been back and forth on this one but lately I'm thinking it comes down to Alvarez needing his opponent to stand in front of him. I thought that the Trout fight showed this wasn't the case, but Trout doesn't have anything close to the footwork (or commitment to footwork) that Lara does.

Could also come down to Lara putting in boring work and the judges not giving him credit, but I think his left hand finds the mark often enough for a decision.

 

Of course what u wrote was bull****. All that Mexican pride stuff. Stereotypical Mexican pride would have made him put more pressure on Floyd.

As the fight went on, even when he knew he had to put pressure on Floyd he couldn't do it consistently. Being able to implement a gameplan depends not only on skill set, but on what physical attributes a fighter possesses.
