What can be done to prevent incompetent judges like Lisa Giampa working major fights?

Lisa Giampa's scorecard for the fight last night was ridiculous. I see Dan Rafael is now making jokes about Giampa instead of CJ Ross.

Neither Giampa nor Ross understand the difference between someone throwing punches that miss and someone throwing clean, effective punches.

Is there any way we can prevent incompetent officials from working major fights?

To be fair to her, some judges just score by activity.
Russell looked busier but in reality, he was doing nothing.

Lomachenko threw away a couple of rounds by not doing enough.

 

Nothing sadly. Those corrupt judges have been here for far too long and nothing is being done.

 

Well, sorry if the other guy was running the whole round like Loma did some times.. and the other guy threw.. I can make the argument that the guy who threw wins the round.

Lomachenko has no one else to blame but himself for the fight being close.. he took so much time off in rounds and entire rounds basically off.

 

I agree, while some tend to look at any type of aggression whether it is effective or not.

There needs to be better training and maybe increase judges from 3 to 5.

 

In cases like this I think the judge in question should be called in front of a panel of the respective world organisation and made to research and possibly score the fight again.

In exceptional cases like this fight tonight the judge in question needs to be held accountable.

Given her race, I don't think she's related to Chuck Giampa unless it's by marriage or what her professional background is, but she's judged more GB fights than other and is likely brought in for circumstances such as this. It's makes guys like Russel and Alvarez more marketable coming off a MD than a UD -(Haymon loses less money moving forward).

 

I don't think it makes Russell any more or less marketable. The guy has no real fanbase. I just think she sucked last night.

 

We, as fans of boxing, should find a voice against this sort of bull****. In todays world we have much more transparency so we should be able to hold incompetent judges accountable. At least tar their reputation.

There is no case for a draw. In some rounds Lochenko was less active, but he didn't lose more than 3 rounds...and that is generous. Even if you favor activity, no self respecting boxing fan could have that a draw.

Just think that their only job is to score a fight. They are so involved in the sport they determine it's outcomes...it is a huge responsibility. How could you be so bad at scoring a fight if it is meant to be your profession???
