I still think a rematch would be competitive when Lomachenko is on the back foot he doesn't counter or really throw punches, for Lomachenko to beat Salido he has to come forward and be willing to compete on the inside with the bigger stronger Salido.

Styles make for a competitive fight.

Salido deserves 0 credit for blowing off his weight and constantly punching a 1-0 boxer in the balls for a 12 round win in which he was nearly knocked out and lost probably 5 rounds...not to mention he's a past steroid cheat, isn't he?

There's a difference between a "crafty, somewhat dirty veteran" to just being a douche...in my mind Salido crossed that line

Salido is still a douche and it makes look worse. I had that fight for Loma.

He came in overweight, lost his title in the scale and threw about 30 low blows. He will never fight at 126 again.

If there's a rematch, without Salido's weight shenanigans, Salido gets stopped cold. He won't be able to walk through the punches he did in the first fight. Also, Loma would be less reluctant to battle him on the inside.

Curious if TR will give that cheating scumbag another payday against Lome?

That fight should have been ruled a no contest just based on that cheating f-ck coming in over the weight limit. Never mind all the low blows.

Depends if the scumbag will decide to make weight in addition to all the other advantages in his favor.

I think the Salido fight was there for Loma to win but I feel he was too conservative about his stamina and the 12 round distance that he didn't throw much and held too often. He just fought a pretty bad fight for most of it imo in that he didn't use his skill and speed advantages. It wasn't helped by Salidos fouling and weight, but I think he learned from that loss and paced himself much better vs Russell Jr, was much more active and didn't clinch.

This. People blame everyone but the fighter. Its ridiculous. Loma was the better man in there. Its his fault he didn't finish a worse fighter. He is very talented and he could really make a mark in the sport but the d riding is already this strong. Lomatards are gonna be the new worst fans in the sport.

Nope. Loma should have called off the fight when he found out that Salido didn't make weight. Once you decide to proceed with the fight, you can't cry about it anymore.

Why cancel a fight? If Loma wins he gets a win. If he loses, it is ruled a no contest because dickhead came in over weight. Dickhead should have been fined on top of that.

That doesn't make any sense. Why would Salido fight if he can't win. I'm not condoning his actions but if Loma thought it was a problem he should have called off the fight. No shame in calling it off if your opponent breaks the terms of the contract.

Had Mikey not landed the shot that cracked Salido's orbital bone in the first round that would have been a far more competitive fight as well, on top of all the KD's Salido was still coming and starting to get to Mikey late.

Salido is very underrated, Loma learned a lot from Salido it prepared him for his future Salido used every dirty trick he could think of, yet Loma was learning on the job and had him figured out late in the fight unfortunately a round or two too late.

Perhaps but that is all speculation. You are indeed right that Salido is underrated.
