Guys, i would like to see your own top 10 and how many you would favour Billy to be up on the cards after the 13th.

    Good points janitor.

And yes, Louis foolishly coming in dehydrated likely let Conn get ahead & cost him an earlier KO.

    Billy Conn was good.
I'm not sure why anyone would assume that Ali or Holmes would stop him.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if Conn went the distance with most of them over 15 rounds.
I can't really answer the question though because I don't have a top 10 list.

I think that Ali and Holmes at there absolute best stopped bigger, tougher fighters. I think when they started laying the leather on Conn he would be feeling it and would go down. It did not take much from Louis to get Conn outta there once the punches started landing.

I do not see him going the distance with guys like Tyson, Liston, Forman. I did not see your reason why you think he does.

Conn was clever, tough and durable for his size, young and primed when he faced Louis. I'm not at all sure Ali and Holmes would knock him out, yes, it's possible. I think Louis hit Conn plenty of great shots, and contrary to common myth, was landing some decent ones throughout the rounds and not just in the 13th.

I don't think I ever thought or said he does.

Fast in and out boxers troubled Johnson who, as you say seldom went for the finish he would be my choice for Conn to survive. Charles and Walcott, Tunney,Burns,Corbett,Sharkey maybe.

Myth is a strong word to use. Conn was bouncing around landing shots when Joe hit him with three shots and finished him, just like that. That was not Louis from the Baer fight that fought Conn. Any version of Cassuis Clay would have finished Conn. I do not see how Conn can take a hook and right hand combination from Clay.

Conn was durable but, more than Frazier?

He did say "I wouldn't be at all surprised if Conn went the distance with most of them over 15 rounds.". Most out of ten would likely include those three. I think he would consider Conn going the distance with all of them.

BS. The extended footage shows that Conn absorbed some good punches throughout the fight.

    Fine.

Whatever he took in throughout the fight. I remember the KO coming and Conn was looking good...and then he was out for 10.
