Sonny Liston vs George Chuvalo Prime for prime and in 1971

    if these two fought when both were in their prime who would've won?
    Also in 1971 they were supposed to fight but Liston's death prevented this. So my questions are who would've won if both were at their prime? And who would've won had they faced in 1971 if Liston hadn't died.

    Chuvalo would have had a chance in 71, but no chance in their primes.

    in 1971 Sonny Liston was dead, so I'll pass on a comment there... Prime for prime Chuvalo eats way too many punches for his own good and gets broken down for the stoppage.

    If they had met prime for prime, Liston would have won a decision, Liston obviously had more talent, Chuvalo had too hard a skull to get stopped..

    If they had met in 71, Chuvalo probably most likely would have stopped Sonny who was at that time around 46, way past his prime, and had too much wear and tear on his body..

    If Frazier and Foreman can stop him. Liston definitely stops him.

    With all due respect, pvp Sonny & George don't belong in the same ring together. End of thread. Geez, George never beat anyone of note, save the Quarry anamoly...

    Unless he wins the lottery, I really don't see any plausible reason why anyone would give Chuvalo a chance. He'd be right in front of one of the most deadly boxer-punchers of all time with a top three all time left jab, deadly right and tons of power behind it. Chuvalo was tough but in this case he would be TOO tough for his own good. It may well be a fight that ends his career early.

    I agree it would just be the same scenario of the Frazier, Foreman fights where George is getting hit too much by a strong puncher and get stopped in the corner. He had a ATG chin but it is a fact that he would be outclassed
