Khan at 147 is a freaking nightmare matchup for anyone.

His power in that fight was fine considering he didn't even plant his feet and try to hit hard.

 

Officially he lost .

In reality he won .

 

It was an extremely close fight. Could have gone to either guy or been a draw.

 

Khan is a fast guy with a nice jab. On a world class level, his technical skills are not impressive at all.

He's not accurate (unless you believe the Compubox crap) and his combos are usually not impressive. He often just throws sloppy flurries to which people (like Jim Lampley) think are landing when they are not. Sometimes he'll throw proper combinations, in which the punches actually create and exploit openings, but often times it is just a sloppy mess. People talking about how he was "outboxing Maidana easily" is laughable. In a lot of the rounds, we won by a slim margin, he would throw those flurries that were grazing and barely landed, but Lampley and the crowd were acting like he was showing some brilliant accuracy.

His balance and footwork are all over the place. His punch resistance is not as bad as people make it out to be, but his defense is often just covering up or using movement.

He appeared to be making strides against Collazo. Yes, he held too much, but overall, he looked less sloppy and there seemed to be more meaning to a lot of his punches. They seemed more thought out and well-placed than the mindless b.s. flurries that he often throws. His foot placement was better.

It still remains to be seen if it's just an illusion and it was Collazo just being really bad, but it definitely looked like a step in the right direction for Khan.

 

Peterson needed a hometown ref deducting 2 BS points, a dodgy man in a hat fiddling with the scorecards and a body pumped full of steroids to get a controversial decision win against Khan. It's a disgrace to the sport he still holds that belt and Khan would beat his ass if they rematched now

Khan has shown some very good ability. BUt it is very compartmentalized. Remarkable handspeed. He has heart and usually puts on a good show.

He also is saddled with absolutely no inside game, and seems unable to adjust when it is forced on him. He either holds and pushes his opponents head down, or he runs for the hills. His chin has always been suspect, but he seems able to take it better at ww.

All in all, a very good fighter in my book. But could/should have been great.

 

The point deductions were fair. The result was acceptable. I do think Peterson may have been on something. I'm not sure who would win a rematch, Peterson seems bad for Khan stylistically but he may have been on PED's and that may have made a difference.

 

Peterson was most likely on something. After he tested positive for the pellets or whatever, he and his team said he'd been using that for awhile.

Khan got an extra point for the KD in round 1 when he shoved him down, so that should cancel out one of the point deductions.

Peterson was effectively aggressive and landed the better shots. He did excellent bodywork. Khan did hurt Peterson, I think in the 9th, so Khan wasn't only doing his b.s. flurries that get people excited, but the overall scoring with Peterson on top was fair.

But since Peterson was on PEDs, it's a no-contest IMO.

If Collazo was able to hurt him with single shots then others who actually have KO power would literally destroy him like never before.

 

poor fundamentals - Yet nearly beat a legendary fighter in Mario Kindelan at age 17? lol...became a two time belt holder beating quality opposition during his time at 140 dominating alot of his opponents.

Sloppy footwork? maybe... but that's how he closes distance and uses his ranginess to get off shots preventing other fighters to do any work.

refuses to avenge losses? that's abit of a stretch...he had an immediate rematch with PEDerson intill it got cancelled...always had wanted to rematch Garcia...so who are we left with? Prescott? a guy who is irrelevant at this point.

No inside game? His inside is bad...but that's because he has never needed to use it...and shouldn't use it...although Virgil now has him learning it...

Now add onto his ring control has improved ten fold with Virgil.

 

I have seen the guys entire career on tv man. stop with this revisionist nonsense, this is as far as he will go!!
