He could possibly beat Leapai...thats more to do with Leapai than him being "back" though

Wilder the beast. I think he'd withstand his wild punches since he has a granite chin and then KO that kid.

They probably view Briggs as too dangerous, too little reward.

Agree - I do look forward to what Briggs can accomplish at his comeback stages. One thing is for sure he has more chance than guys his age that are shot to pieces. Toney, Peter, Rahman, Maskaev...those guys have NO CHANCE. Briggs is not in that caliber.

Yes, they all have about 1-2% of winning a title, Id have Briggs as high as 3...maybe 3.5% chance of winning a titile.

Well he should have to earn it...which he wont.

He has a tried and tested formula of KO'ing journeymen and shouting to get a title

I think a lot of the HW's over the last 15 years have the journeymen part, due to the shallow level of opposition.

Im sure there are loads of examples, your Brewsters, Rahman's- I mean he was getting knocked out of the ring by Maskaev and beating Marion Wilson(?), COrrie Sanders(not bad) and Frankie Swindells(?) prior to his LL title fight

Lamon Brewster who was WC, beat the mighty WIllie Chapman, Tommy Martin and Joe Lenhart to get his shot(oh and losing to Charles Shufford in one of his fights previous and Ettienne)

The journeyman situation isnt unique to Briggs, its pretty much standard for HW's

I had to use boxing rec to get the names above, thats how bad it was!

I dont think many "good fighters" are KO'd in 1 round in the scheme of things. Ruiz springs to mind as one of the "better" ones and I use that term extremely loosely.

Tyson did a few, although Spinks I think was absolutely terrified

Zumbano Love would be his best win since Rob Calloway, and if he beat Leapei, it would be his best since prime Liakovich.

BUT..............not saying that's earning it.....but if I remember correctly, Briggs was supposed to fight Helenius in the United Arab Emerites after Robbe blasted out Liakovich.
Briggs backed out, and Robbe was supposed to fight Dimitrenko for the Eu title......Dimtrenko backed out, and Robbe then fought DeLBoy where he infamously took the roll down the hill tearing his rotator cuff, and went on to further damage it and his R hand in the DelBoy fight.

If Briggs somehow beat Helenius, Love, and Leapei......that would arguably get him ranked top 10 by all 4 orgs, and top 3 WBO.:think

Ettienne, Shufford, Sanders, Maskaev, and Swindell were not journeyman. They were former title contenders, regional titlists and fringe Blevel guys who just couldnt make the grade against the elite and the other contenders.:think
