Big Daddy Bowe, a personal favorite of mine and undeniably one of
the most talented and formidable HW fighters H2H, not to mention the heart
of a warrior. Just picked up the latest Ring magazine. Hope its cool that
    I post the quotes verbadim.

Best Skills : Holyfield. "He was better than anyone I ever fought. He could
think, he could match wits with you. Our fights were so good because he
could match me in thinking aspect. He was always in such great shape.

Best Jab: Pinklon Thomas "I guess he was from the old school. He came in
with a great jab. He would throw a jab and snap your head back. ... After
that I would have to say Tyrell Biggs.

Best Defense: Holyfield "He had the best defense, the best offense. I
mean hands down he made you work. If you weren't in shape it wasn't going to happen.

Best Chin: Holyfield I could Shake Evander and he'd come back with four,
five shots. And if you weren't in shape that's when he was going to get you. He was always going to come back at you.

Best Puncher: Herbie Hide "You're not going to believe this but I would have to say Herbie Hide .... He hit me and I thought Oh sh#t I can't
allow this guy to hit me again because I don't know what I'll see next.
Initially I was trying to box him and he was real fast. I said I can't box
him because he got me beat, so I fought him.

Fastest Hands: Holyfield. "I've got to go with the Real Deal again. Evander
had not only great hand speed but he put something on it. In the third fight he knocked me down. What he did was throw a relatively light
left hook and I was thinking C'mon man. He threw another weak left hook and I was like Really? I didn't realize that he was setting me up to relax.
The third one he hit me with I seen the lights and the count. I'm like damn he fooled me again. I got up and shook it off. I think at that point he shot his load. He really couldn't take me out like he wanted to. I went back to the corner and switched up on him and knocked him out."

Fastest Feet: "No one in particular. In that aspect there were a lot of guys
I fought with really good fight. They didn't want to be hit. I go back to Evander. When I had him in trouble he had damn good feet. I know one thing: I know one thing when you hit him and hurt him like that in the first fight he was hard to catch up with. I truly believe it was because he was able to maneuver in such a manner."

Smartest: Holyfield "No question, unequivocally. Here's a guy you hit him with the left hook he would keep his guard up, get close to you and turn his body. He was very smart in that aspect."

Strongest: Holyfield Once again, as small as Evander was, he was probably the strongest.

Best Overall: Holyfield Unequivocally. Evander was smart, he was a thinker, he was in great shape, he had all the attributes to make him a great champion. That's why he and I fought against each other so hard and well.

Beginning remarks "Bowe might be most remembered for unfulfilled promise. Big Daddy certainly had his moments, though.

My own quote "They don't make 'em like that anymore":good

Interesting that he singles out Herbie Hide as such a standout in terms of power.

His comments on Pinklon Thomas's jab are interesting as well.

Indeed. I actually have not seen the Thomas fight, plan to watch it soon, I always figured he was shot and it wouldn't be worth it I will check it out, Pinky's jab was a thing of beauty. I know Hide stunned him but I figured he would of mentioned Golota, Gonzalez, as powerful.

Not really surprising that Holyfield figures so much in Bowe's choices. He was the probably the best fighter, still more or less in his prime, that Bowe ever fought.

Would be interesting to see how Bowe fares if Holyfield had to rank the best opponents that he fare in the different catagories?

The Holyfield wins are the most important and biggest things in Bowe's carrier.
Can somebody imagine bad words by Bowe about Holy?
Try to imagine the following thoughts about the mighty Evander:
-He was weak and featherfisted. He couldn't knock the 42 years old Holmes and
the 42 years old Foreman out.The glass-chinned Moorer beat him.
His chin is overrated his fight against the bum Bert Cooper proves this.
Oh yes Golota! He was the best. He was much more harder puncher than
the weak Evander.Golota was a tough dude.He was much more tougher than the
    genetical skinny chicken Evander. Haha!!!.
-I think Bowe never wanna say similar things.
But unfortunatelly the Golota fights showed Bowe is overrated.
The Holyfield "mania" can't change this.

Golota beat him from pillar to post, consistently quicker off the jab, outworked and out-thought him… not a mention.

Bowe was 27 years old and coming off the greatest victory of his career when Golota beat him in every aspect of the game except self-control.

If you disregard the fact that Bowe was out of shape and over looked Golota,
bottom line Bowe got the **** beat out of him but made Golota quit, so
he is 2 and 0 against Golota. I believe Eddie Futch had abandoned him as well.
Too bad there wasn't a "hardest nutshot combo" category.

Where is the Pierre Coetzer who failed to follow the script so that Bare Ass Bowe was forced to low blow him into defeat...

Or the masterful Tubbs who outslicked and outquicked Bowe at his past prime form?

Or does Bowe merely follow the form of other champs and is the worst commentator on his own career?

Lewis would of been his pick but Chicken Bowe was scared of Lennox's right hand of doom.

    Best jab certainly seems likely.

What differience does the fight before make?

Douglas was in the best shape of his life against Tyson and was in the worst shape of his ilfe in his very next fight where he got taken out of the ring on a gurney after only 3 rounds.

Bowe was in woeful shape and unprepared for Golota. He said "How do you train for a bum?" Fuch was sick of him. He weighed over 250lbs.

Golota was focused and in his prime under the guidance of great Lou Duva.

A fight is 12 rounds. Doesn't matter what you claim Golota did , the fact of the matter is he couldn't make it past 7 rounds fight 1.

He could give it to Bowe but he couldn't take it back. Bowe made the adjustment to bring the pressure as the fight went on. Golota couldn't get him out of there and he could not handle Big Daddy walking him down so tapped out.
Golota was down, hurt and bloodied. He could take no more of Bowe , he lost and thats the bottom line.

Lets not even bother to talk about the second bout. Bowe was sad to see in that fight.

Agree with your first point and the second one would certainly be interesting because Bowe is the only fighter to have beaten Holyfield twice.

Had to watch Bowe vs Hide again to see if what Bowe was referring to about Hide being the best puncher he had faced was evident.

Hide won the first 2 rounds and was on the way to winning the 3rd when Bowe dropped him twice. The sign of things to come as in all Bowe dropped him 7 times before Hide's corner instructed him to stay down. Hide landed quite a few flurries on Bowe, but the biggest pain he caused him was the head butt he planted on him in the 2nd round.

Hide survived for so long because he ran for his life. If he wasn't on his bike he would of been gone in the first few rounds.
