Do you guys think that Boxing is declining in the States because of MMA? I know Boxing is still popular overseas, but here we don't have mainstream heavyweight boxers like we did in the 90's and early 2000's. Also, in my opinon, I think BOTH can coexist. That's been proven with Randy Couture Vs James Toney and Ray Mercer Vs Tim Sylvia. How do you think Boxing can get talked about mainstream in the U.S. and Canada again? Besides Mayweather and Pacquaio casuals don't know of a Andre Ward, Deontay Wilder, and etc. DISCUSS

It's declining because we have a generation of FIGHTER/BOXER specific fans as opposed to FIGHTING/BOXING fans. As a result the sport gets attention only when the big names fight as opposed to when we get good match ups. So few fans can't be bothered to emotionally invest in following the sport, which is admittedly overly complex, so will stick to a fighter that have been told about as opposed to making the effort to actually watch the sport and see fighters in action.

Of course mismatches don't help bring in new fans.

    No
they are not the same sport at all. Real fans wouldn't let a separate sport influence their interest in another sport.

Boxing is making more $$$ than ever before while mma has been in steady and drastic decline

I watched some MMA matches when it first came out but couldn't stand it. Believe it or not because of the brutality of it. Way too dangerous to the MMA fighters. Look at how short their careers are.

I will be surprised if MMA continues to explode because I have to believe more people are going to be killed. A different animal altogether.

I'm more of an MMA fan than Boxing, but I respect Boxing. I always loved Martial Arts a lot more. Plus when guys are on the ground grappling it's called Jiu Jit Su.

I think boxing would be healthier if they got rid of PPV and had the mega-fights on regular TV. The promoters wouldn't make as much money but the fighters would be more popular than ever.

See, I don't call it Jiu Jit Su.

I call it a MAN payin another MAN his OWN DAMN HARD EARNED MONEY to have another MAN wrap his legs around him.

That's like a grown man sayin..." HELL YAH...I GOT PAID TODAY!!!"

    "****!!!" I GOT PAID!!! DAMN...I GOT PAID.

Then somebody sayin..."What you tryin to DO with YOUR money????"

Then the guy that got paid says...

"****...I gonna go on down to the GYM and have some man all sweaty and ****, and stanky...Wrap his legs around me with his FEET touchin me and ****."

    Then the other guy says...

    "WTF???" "Damn....you gay."

    You see what I'm sayin?

Think about that ****. Let that **** saturate.

Looks can be deceiving, believe it or not mma is much safer than boxing.
Boxers die due to severe beatings many times a year and most end up with varying degrees of brain damage.

Mma more bones are broken and ligament damage but very rarely does anyone die nor is brain damage common
