I have always said Ricky Burns had the best career he could with his serious lack of ability. He is super fit, great engine, Billy Nelson done a great job with a limited fighter. No one can take away he was a World Champion, but has been outclassed in last 4 fights badly, is scared of getting hit, lacks power or movement. He should retire as the guy that beat him tonight is very limited. What do people think?
Unless he wants to step back to domestic level, I completely agree. People will blame Hearn and Sims but this has been a long time coming.
Where can he go. crolla has bigger fish to fry. matthews would be to risky with his heavy shots. you look at someone like coyle and think that would be a good match up. but its wether burns wants to go to that level or wether he wants to retire with his young family. the silence was something iv never heard from a glasgow crowd after the fight. hes done up there
Would agree but it's a bit rich coming from the guy who's convinced scott Harrison can still fight at a decent level at 36 and hardly boxed in recent years
Scott Harrison was a special fighter, put it this way he would still hammer Burns. Would retire him if he wants to fight him. Different league. Look at Peter Harrisons tactics for Limond, top draw. Has a world class trainer, who would give him perfect gameplan to destroy Burns. To be honest Stevie Wonder could give u a game plan to beat Burns
Boxing is a confidence game and Burns hasn't had a good performance in the ring since beating Kevin Mitchell. I would say he needs to step back from fighting good contenders and face journeymen for his next two as keep busy fights. Then give him one last chance against Derry Matthews and if he wins step it up, if he doesn't - hang em up and be proud.
Gonna put it out there that in a year or so eddie puts him in against luke Campbell to give luke a 'statement' win
See if I had to put a fiver on it today I'd put it on Campbell, but for eddie it'd be too much risk, think next summer after luke has had a few fights eddie will make this, ex Olympic gold medallist v ex 2 weight world champion
I hope Ricky hangs them up now young family to look after and even though it was a SD tonight he was getting hit far too easily Zlaticanin was throwing left hands from his home town and still landing them on Ricky who was pulling back with his chin hanging in the air and when he throws his shots his other hand drops down exposing his chin aswell all of them are a recipe for disaster and this is coming from a fan of Ricky aswell been to 2 of his last 4 fights the only fights I've missed were Beltran and this due to being on holiday.

i agree , he over achieved massively and depending on ur view , frank w or billy deserve an mbe for keepin him at world level for half a decade !
