why not have Floyd fight Stevenson for his light heavyweight title and have a catchweight of 154.. He can beat light heavyweight champion? Get Froch to weigh in at 152 and he can win that title at 168 also. What an accomplishment.

Not really, because it all about the opponents tbh

But definitely could be one of the greatest achievements in boxing

if they are fighting out of their weight class, then fight where they should be. This is boxing, not bending rules for fighters. I said years ago Ray thought he was bigger than boxing cheating to get two titles on one night. Hearns won his legit.

Business wise it is the right choice but the numbers it (Cotto /Martinez) pulled in (or DIDN'T) may be a factor. Cotto is deemed as "back" and also has a record setting win. I'm personally disgusted that Sergio ripped off every boxing fan by getting in the ring knowing damn well he wasn't good to go, but you can't deny that Cotto looks like a monster for dominating Sergio in most peoples eyes.

I'm just confused, where was it said that he would fight Cotto at a C/W. History shows that he'll fight him at any weight.

He's had 2 catchweights. 1 off a 2 year lay off, and the other against a guy who said he would fight at 150, so Floyd gave him 152.

He fought Cotto the first time with no C/W.
He fought DLH with no C/W.

Im pretty sure he'll go to 160 to fight Cotto.

anyone who does catchweights should retire.. they are not good for boxing. It is like they are taking PEDs. they want an advantage, so why keep fighting if you fight just to cheat boxing? if they took Peds people would be outraged but catchweights are ok. lol

    I agree.

Im just saying that if a guy who's a true Jr Welter. Is going into the ring against a guy who's a true Super Middle. You don't think there's a problem with that?

Let's say Pac fights Quillen, and comes into the ring 150. (as he does)
Quillen comes into the ring 179. ( He did in his last fight )

That's 29 pounds apart on fight night for a division that's supposedly only 2 divisions away.

Welterweight --> Jr Middle --> Middleweight.

In that case, a catchweight is understandable in my mind.

I think cotto vs Floyd @ 160 is a excellent fight. Cotto had success when he did let his hands go and pressured Floyd smart. This Cotto Freddie has is more aggressive so will be interesting. As far as weight both would come in over 154 but under 160.

Mayweather ducked a few fighters, and is a proven hypocrite...but I do admire his discipline in between fights. Have never seen him look close to out of shape

Roach has been baiting him appealing to his greed for the Middleweight Title.
Hopefully Floyd signs up...if not then bring on GGG!!!
