Listening to Larry Merchant explaining how good Korobov is, that he is big, strong and winning with ease... Is this the same Larry Merchant that used to give Lennox Lewis abuse for not being aggressive enough or not exciting the fans?

    Yeah.

Rubio is too tough all the way around for Korobov.

Soliman and Ndam are good enough with potential/probable stylistic nightmares for Korobov.

And if Sturm could actually muster up the courage to punch, even just jab, I'd fancy him the more likely winner with the Barker domination being enough recently to actually have enough faith in him to be able to do it.

I just... I don't know. Give me Korobov vs. Lemieux.

Korobov roasted the ribs in round 9 and is now three ahead on my card. Uzi needs a KO to win.

There's a reason Korobov has been brought up so goddamned slowly.

Yeah - "awkward, busy, and tough" is a bad look for "solid, one-gear, and reluctant to finish" - I just think on quality alone Soliman is the sort he could beat (along with the faded Sturm, whose Barker result flattered him, I think...and Rubio who ceilings out at "almost world class", probably about where Korobov himself will plateau...) whereas he stands nary a snowball's in hell of beating the likes of Kid Chocolate, Golovkin, N'Dam, Cotto, etc.

Korobov is the same fighter I saw a few years ago, solid witha. Decent punch but he isn't going to set the world on fire. He is a step below an elite talent.

    Round 9

Uzcategui is jabbing and walking into Korobov to swallow him up in clinches. Body shots by Korobov. They circle and pose, Uzcategui reaching with the jab. Korobov throws combos on the body when he deigns to work, otherwise letting Uzcategui fall on him.

    10-9 Korobov

    87-82 Korobov

How the **** can you gas in 8 rounds with that level of activity? He also seems too stiff, maybe that adds to it as well.

I think Korobov beats Quillin, but his lazy-ish/ultra-conservative style would make him very easy to rob.

Stevens-Korobov would be an exciting match-up.

Well summarized. This bout is a microcosm of his entire career - doing enough to intrigue, but well short of enough to really impress...and just never really stepping it up.
