Absolutely amateur production at the end of the fight. They were late to show the fight resuming after the first knockdown thanks a needless pan to the crowd followed by a ridiculous zoom-in on Gamboa, and they barely showed the stoppage due to their eagerness to show Crawford's family. Hell they didn't even provide a clear replay of the stoppage to at least show how the referee reacted to the second and final knockdown.
They were betwixt and between. We never did get the best looks at the action as it unfolded. I didn't want to nitpick, but there you have it.
HBO Announce team ate a phat dicc tonight big-time... They hopped on Gamboa's dick from the start & quickly jumped ship even faster... Them backtracking about Crawford switching to southpaw tho was the funniest **** ever. (After they damm near tore TC a new ******* about it that rd)
I usually don't either, but it seemed relevant to at least show more on the replay since the stoppage felt kind of quick, especially given Gamboa's protestations in the post-fight interview. I guess that would have gotten in the way of the 500th shot of Crawford's mom cheering for her son though.
My only concern was the constant zooming in on the fat black girls, would rather hear whats going on in the corner.
Yeah but for once I'm going to give them a break. They went to freakin Nebraska to bring them their first major fight since 1972. There were errors like the un-official scorecard too and what not but this was an awesome fight and it was in Nebraska so I'm just gunna let the productions errors slide after an awesome fight like that. Also some of those punch stats were just unbelievable. In round 8 they said gamboa landed only 7 punches (threw 59) and crawford landed 30. I thought Gamboa was doing quite well in that round before the knockdown.
They need to put a slug in the back-o-the head of Steve Weisfeld tho... (makes me miss Ledderman's cracked out cards.) Is HBO trying to faze Harold out?
I'm sorry, but Nebraska is not some third world country, nor is it particularly out of the way for HBO. When they had a myriad of audio issues for Kirkland-Angulo in Mexico or ran into problems when Martinez-Murray occurred during a damn typhoon in Argentina, I was happy to give them a pass, but not in this instance. Most especially since the problems regarding the shoddiest of camerawork hardly seemed to stem from anything related to the venue at all.
I don't intend to thank them for what I expect, even if this was probably the first fight they made this year where they actually lived up to such expectations.
You're points are very valid, all I'm saying is I'd much rather have an amazing fight like this with shoddy camerawork then great camerawork and a dud fight. This was an awesome fight, but yeah the HBO telecast did have a very rogue amateurish feeling, but that also kinda made it cool. Didn't Jim Lampley even say that the ring was like 23 feet or something? Did it look that big to you?
Still better than Sho's crew. Sho pans from the ****ing center mid row all the time. You miss a lot of the clean angles on the inside
I just watched the fight on dvr and i was yelling at the damn tv too with all that nonsense panning in and out at the end. Great fight though.
