Alright, let's say I wanted to train to become a Boxer. I'm 19 so is that too late? So, is toughman fights kinda the same as Boxing? Oh, how do I make sure I get the right fight team for any combat sport? I already know you have to cut weight before fights. Another thing, how do you get fights and make sure the management won't cheat you? This is a serious thread, so discussions are open.

Boxer is a tough and cold sport. It doesnt matter if you're 19 if you have it in you to take the brutal beatings and persevere.

There's no blueprint to becoming a successful boxer, you'll have to go and find out for yourself.

Oh man, 19 is way over the hill.
Maybe try lawn bowling or squash.

Toughman is basically boxing, but usually with guys who have no clue how to box. So no... it's not the same.

And if you couldn't tell, my first comment was sarcasm.
But honestly, so many people ask the same question before they even try it.
    What's the point?

So many people try boxing, and decide they don't like getting punched in the face (or suck at fighting in general) after all.

So isn't it kind of silly to ask this question...before even trying it?

Nope I never fought a day in my life, but I had my cousin teach me Taekwondo in Boston. I can take a punch though.

I just wanted to know because I actually wanna do MMA. However, I would want to incorporate Boxing into my training plus JiuJitSu.

Technically you do not have to be an amateur boxer to turn pro. Dwight Muhammad Qawi never fought as an amateur and he is in the IBHOF.

Don't wait any longer, go sign up and start monday. I too thought about doing that when i was in my early 20s but thought I needed to start when I was kid and thought i was too old. I wish I had tried atleast. I love boxing and did go when I was 16 to the club a few times but was a far drive and couldn't get there enough so didn't bother. I think there's a definite hole in boxing right now for true athletes and talent. Maybe you could be one of those guys to fill it, u just never know. Just don't wait. Have the "there is no tomorrow" attitude with it and get it going.

19 isn't too late unless you plan on having some glorious, world class career...

Boxing is an amazing workout regardless of age or competitive level. Hopefully, it will keep me in good shape for many years to come.

Do you live in or around Boston?

If so, there are dozens of boxing/mma gyms in that area and many of the franchise clubs have incorporated boxfit into their gyms, hiring former amatuer and professional fighters to train lay folks in the basics for fitness and self defense. :good

Nevermind......saw your'e in VA.....if your near a Navy base, or in the NAVY, you can learn to box there.

I was gaining momentum at Camp LeJeune before I got a DWI, and got kicked off the team. :-(
