fast car took what he could from the fans further north and the hype was believed

burns as been on the slide since the Gonzales fight , I never believed he was world level , last four fights haver proved this IMO , as some one said he as done very well earning wise and should think of himself as very fortunate the nights fights and a healthy bank account to boot , will he think the domestic level is beneath him now ?

Lets not forget that pro boxing is in the entertainment trade. As has already been mentioned Ricky has earned very well. None of us would of expected him to of earned for himself and his team the kind of dough he has when he was sat on his arse against carl J.

Hes done well out of boxing and thats what its all about. There is still more for him to make albeit it will be down at domestic now.

Firstly he is not a Glaswegian to my knowledge on Geography, but that's not the point. When a fighter is limited and has a great career I love it, as they have done there best with there tools. But when I have to listen to patter for years like he is better than Scott Harrison ever was, up there with Buchannan and Watt, is best lightweight in the world, best fighter in Britain , better than Vasquez, Broner it insulted my intelligence, and put me off him. Then the way he treated a trainer who took him from being a journeyman to world titles, and by that I mainly mean the way he let Alex Morrison come out publicly and slag Billys abilities/achievements as a trainer, and stood by and kept his mouth shut. Showed the man he owed most gratitude in boxing to a lot of disrespect with that

if Ricky's not a Glaswegian like you say neither is Scott, he'd be South Lanarkshire, moog like it or not and we won't get into a debate about it Ricky would beat Scott, you tend to forget Ricky's opponents are world level, Scott lost against a domestic level fighter quite clearly in Walsh, although don't get me wrong he done well given inactivity ect ect but Ricky is a big big step up for him at this stage.
I know your a big fan of Scott's and yes he was a great fighter but age has creeped up on him:good

I said all along the move to Sims would be a bad move, Crawford would beat Burns no matter who trains him, I have no doubt what happened was Hearn was in Ricky's ear bigging up Sims behind Billy's back, The old saying " a shoddy workman blames his tools" applies here imo, Burns couldn't accept like Froch did with Ward it wasn't his trainers fault, he was just beaten by a guy better then him, If he thought Sims would make him a better fighter then Billy did he was dreaming, he looked worse then ever before the other night, looked scared and was so open to counters. Burns should retire he doesn't have it any more if he can't beat that guy he won't even beat Crolla or Mitchell even Coyle would be a struggle based on that performance. On a side note i thought it was bad form to throw the toys out of the pram and not do an interview after and congratulate the winner, sent Hearn out to talk shite and tell us it was a close fight when Burns clearly lost. Whatever Burns does next i hope he realizes now that without Billy Nelson he wouldn't have gone beyond European level.

Don't talk nonsense what about the two fights before Crawford??

Nelson took Burns as far as he could and shoulders the responbility for Ricky' demise.

Hearns is an evil little ****, building up stooge Burns with a pack of lies.

I always fast forward or cut the volume when he starts to speak, everyone else here should de the same, little wanker doing nothing whilst making a living out of brave souls beating each other up.

As for Ricky..shock loss was it? only a shock that the judges didn't stitch up rick's 4th opponent in a row. This guy was tiny compared to Ricky, there was no excuse for not shutting him down other than inadequacy or poor cherrypicking.

Well he beat Gonzalez, people forget that, Beltran he broke his jaw early in the fight not easy to get through to the final bell even, look the fact is Crawford was simply much better then Burns, you wouldn't blame Rob McCracken for Froch loosing to Ward, when your fighter is a level below the opponent sometimes they just can't win. Again people saying Billy didn't correct mistakes Burns made, why didn't Ricky correct them? Sometimes a fighter will always have limitations things won't change regardless of trainer, Amir Khan has trained with the best in the game still makes big errors, maybe Billy did try to correct those mistakes and Burns wasn't able to follow the instruction.

I've been saying this for a while now. When Burns is throwing his shots, he does seem to out of range as if his timing is off which see's him over reaching with his shots - Gonzalez fight was a good example.

Strange as Burns jab was a top weapon for him, but it hasn't been the force it was of late.

I still think Burns is a level above everyone around the domestic scene. He's been mixing with top tier fighters, yeah he's fell a fraction short but he's not been 'destroyed' or toyed with - which I think would happen to much of his UK counter parts had they been in with Crawford, Gonzalez, Beltran and Zlaticanin.

Most would argue that Kevin Mitchell is our 2nd best LW after Burns, we seen what happened there. As much as I like Crolla, I don't see him putting it on Burns, likewise Derry Matthews, Coyle etc. The only one actually that I think would pose problems would be Flanagan but that's up for debate.

Burns has achieved a lot in the sport.. probably more than he ever dreamed. Brought some big nights to Scotland. Do I think he's finished? No. But perhaps world level is a step to far now.

Depending on how much fire he has left in the belly, then Hearns could have him involved in some domestic fights that would create some buzz - also fights that I think Ricky would shine once more in. Whether or not he'll still have the hunger to drop down a level and do that after being a world champion is the question.
