    This.

Elliot Hulse is very well known and respected. He was huge and strong as **** before youtube even existed.

Some of his stuff is a bit out there, but he knows what he's talking about.

youtube.com "Does Stretching/Warming Up Actually Help?" according to the cbc research over -stretching is harmful, but a warm up is optimal!

Wasting time, stretching the muscle fibres cytoskeleton, increasing injury risk if done too much and at the wrong time etc.
Many people will stretch a muscle that doesn't need to be stretched and further tighten up an antagonist muscle. Muscles are like a tent, if something is too stretched or too tight then something has to give. There is also no evidence that stretching can prevent injuries, while there is countless evidence that being strong prevents injury (as well as the added side effect of improving all aspects of performance, being a foundational biomotor ability). Stretching is incredibly overrated, if the desired movements can be performed then any further attempts to improve range of motion are likely detrimental.

^^^ even dynamic stretches? How about stretching to cool down as opposed to warming up.

Also what about those foam rollers or that stick roller? Are they better?

I get warming up rather than stretching but what about injury prevention or stretching to prevent post workout soreness?

Dynamic stretching, warming up and foam rolling are important. When we talk about stretching it's usually about the static variety, which is essentially pointless at any time. Stretching in that way after working out also exacerbates DOMS and muscle damage.
