That is a little disturbing. Fighters make concessions all the time but if his preferred glove was approved and took the cash grab it's a little sad for both parties. Marcos should of stuck to his guns to give himself the best possible chance of winning, and it shows Floyd does whatever it takes to stack deck in his favor.
Small price to pay, had Maidana stopped him, he would lose out on the 100's of millions that he'll get for his last 3 fights. Once Mayweather loses which he probably won't his mystique will be gone, giving detractors no reason to buy his PPV's, they will have gotten want they want a loss.
Its just some alledged source...says so in the article. Maidana wanted to wear a pair or gloves that had been approved by the Nevada State Athletic Commission but Mayweather objected. The gloves were considered better gloves for a puncher and Maidana is known for his power. So the sides made a deal for Maidana to change gloves the day before the fight. Although neither side would disclose the terms of the deal -- or even admit that there was one -- sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.com that Mayweather agreed to pay Maidana an additional $1.5 million to change gloves. That doubled Maidana's official purse, which was $1.5 million on his Nevada contract. However, sources told ESPN.com that Maidana was guaranteed $4.2 million and wound up earning at least $5.7 million, including the payment for the gloves change. He didn't complain about it, in fact Maidana was so happy with how the fight turned out, he thought he won. But in the post fight press conference when there was talk of a rematch, Floyd complimented Maidana for being a warrior, said he had a beautiful family, but then criticized Maidana for hitting him low, to which Maidana immediately stood up and responded by saying "next time let me use my gloves!"
I read the comments on the original article all the way before someone mentioned this glove money. Dumbasses, Lady Girl picked it out right away. though I like the person that said he should fight "the other TBE Pacquiao". :tong
And how he paid his 'friends', USDA to test him and his opponent, USDA again to keep his test hidden, the ref, the judges, everyone in TMT, his opponent to lose or take it easy, Golden Boy,, and everyone else involved in his everyday life.. That means he makes -2.4 million a fight.. How can he afford that?
People here are posting facts so not sure what you're talking about. Did he not pay Maidana to wear different gloves? Thought so. Did he not pay Pacquiao to settle the law suit and prevent his medical records from getting retrieved? Thought so.
I don't know.. I'm not his accountant.. I'm just going by what I read here.. Cool attempt on trying yo school me though.. I'm broke so I don't care what he does with his money unless he'll let me get some...
