Then again there is a lot less depth of quality on the Light Welter scene compared to the Lightweight division, so will avoid it like the plaque
He beat Martinez and Katsidis for his alphabet titles. He fought some of the best fighters at both weights, beat a couple too. He may very well of been an underdog against those you named. But he was a big betting underdog against Martinez and I was not alone in believing Katsidis would beat him, yet he overturned them odds.
I'm sure he'll fight on and no doubt he'll move up a division claiming that making the weight has been killing him. He was a decent titlist but was never the top dog at LW, the broken jaw must be a factor and after the last four fights - which some people think he lost all of - his confidence must be rock bottom...
Is your name Peter moog? Some arsehole calling in the daily record hot line talking shite like you do. You moog are a fud
No need for him to retire. He's had a great career, and being a former world champion I'm sure trainers would jump at the opportunity to train him. Virgil would be a good fit for Ricky.
Some of amount of complete nonsense being banded about in here. Derry and Coyle would "bash" Burns up? Have a word with yourselves for **** sake. And wont be long before someone gives him a really bad beating? Well whoever said that will be waiting a while because the guy who just stopped Gamboa couldn't stop Ricky (and we don't need to go on about how he schooled him etc the fact is he couldn't stop him). The KD in the first minute against Zlaticanin would have KO'd many many LW's. I don't deny Ricky has been poor of late and I also agree he's on the decline. And after Saturday he is no longer in the mix for world class fights. But ................. Lets get one thing straight which I haven't seen anyone mention. Burns is one tough cookie. Time and time again he should be well out of it, but he keeps on getting up and keeps on going. His conditioning is first class. Personally I'd like to see him face Crolla after he loses whoever he meets at world level because he ain't anywhere near there either. Although I'd like him to do well he seems a top bloke. And Moog ............ the amount of glee you have taken from his loss is quite frankly embarrassing pal. Wanting Ricky to chuck it and Scott to carry on ............ Aye makes sense.
