Why didnt Wladimir Klitschko have a rematch with Corrie Sanders?

Martin was the first fighter to take Wlad the distance of 8 rounds. Perhaps that's why he re-matched him.

Stop making excuses for Brewster. Wlad was pounded the heck out of him ( still not sure how Brewster got up ) then suddenly weakened in the first match. This is why there was a re-match. Wlad lost and wanted to avenge a dubious ending.

Had not Wlad not re-matched Brewster some ( You ) would say he should have! In the re-match, Wlad pasted Brewster. Brewster was never in the fight.

As far as fighting the best out there, Wlad has ducked no top #1, #2, or #3 ranked opponent. It must be hard on you Dino. Wlad has not lost in 10 years.

 

Why are you making excuses for Wlad. Bewster and Sanders beat Wlad fair and square.

Wlad blamed everybody but himself for his loss to LB. He even fired a cornerman claiming to put too much greese on his face. He was a sore loser and Houser said he embarrassed himself with the poison allegations.

Fact is he avoided Sanders- there are quotes from his managment to prove that and Bewster came out of retirement with the same injury that ended Margarito's career for the rematch.
Wlad and Brewster fought it out prime for prime and Brewster ended him in 5 rounds.

 

Wladimir of Post 2007 never would lose to Corrie Sanders or Lamon Brewster in my opinion. Anyone else share this same opinion?

 

Wlad became much harder to defeat post Brewster. Sanders did beat him fair in square, but I think Wlad underestimated him, and lacked the teachings of Steward when they meet.

The Brewster loss had a strange ending. I give Brewster credit for taking the punishment he did, and coming back.

Its clear Wlad learned from early defeats, avenged one of them, and would have given Sanders a shot down the line had he not lost again post Vitali.

Back to point, Wlad has been dominant for a decade. Deal with it. He's not losing anytime soon. He's still too good, even at age 38

 

I don't think there is any guarantee that he wouldn't, or at least not to Sanders. Brewster is probably a different story. Whilst its true that Emanuel Steward changed some of the dynamics of his fight game, it was more so designed to prevent him from getting hurt rather than to aggressively go seeking a "win." And it wasn't as though Wlad barely came up short against Sanders... Corrie uterly destroyed him.. He had a decent wingspan for a man of 6'4", fast hands, awkward style and a lot of power. Its possible that Wlad has since beaten men who are "better" fighters, but probably not anyone of that exact "description" or having THAT combination of attributes. Sure I think the new rendition of Wlad might have beaten him. But Sanders would always be a dangerous opponent, just as Barkely always was to Hearns, Norton to Ali, Bramble to Mancini, etc, etc, etc...

 

Difference is Lewis WANTED A REMATCH with, Mccall, the first fight was stopped too soon, and with Rahman, he didn't have OR NEED a BIG BROTHER to avenge a loss for him, he took care of it on his own...

 

That's why Wlad will never fight in the states again, and stays in comfy Germany, because he knows he would never get away with all of the excessive bear holding, hugging, etc, he would be forced to fight or get DQ'D by the ref, i haven't seen the guy fight since Haye , because all of his fights post Peter-1 suck, all of that holding is ****ing annoying...:-(

 

I think one of them being dead while the other is blind is probably reason enough.

 

Of the fighters who beat him, Brewster was the highest priority for a rematch.

 

I don't buy it either. It was a title fight, and I've never seen Wlad come in unprepared for anyone. It's actually one of his keys to success...that he never takes anything for granted. He's super prepared, always.

Now maybe he became especially so after the Sanders loss, but I don't buy that he underestimated Sanders, of whom there was plenty of film footage available and had some quite formidable weaponry, despite being past his best.

For me, he got caught, never fully recovered, and never really dealt at all with Sanders' handspeed and southpaw style. One of those things.

And frankly, I'd expect Wlad to win a rematch since Sanders was a part-timer by that stage and looking for one or two good paydays.
I was horrified when I saw his conditioning versus Vitali. I think he came gambling on another quick knockout and if it didn't work...well, he got paid.
I think he'd have the same mindset in a Wlad rematch to be honest.

 

He makes $15-25 million dollars for his fights in Germany and is immensely popular there. I don't see the great motivation to go anywhere else.

All of the refs for his fights since Haye were from the US or Puerto Rico… so I don't see how the Germans allow him to excessively hold.

As I recall it, Wlad was actually pushing for the rematch, but Sanders dropped the belt and went for Vitali instead, in a huge money fight.

I don't think Wlad could've beaten Sanders without Stewart.
