I wouldn't say you give make up rounds. But I've often noticed you give close rounds to guys you are betting on.

Do you disagree with the answer I gave to IB below?

Late in fights if a boxer is way behind but has a better round I think he has a chance of picking up a sympathy round

Of course, look at Tim Bradley vs Pacquaio. Some people gave him so many sympathy rounds in the first fight, that in their eyes, Bradley somehow, inexplicably, won the fight.

Disagree with your with your assertion that trade off close rounds don't or should not exist IB. I do that all the time and am seldom but a round or two away from what the judges actually scored. Even rounds are strayed from because they make it look as if there is no structure in scoring or they don't know what they're doing. And trying like hell to find a reason to give a round to one fighter over another all the time in toss up rounds is how we end with lopsided scores in close fights. That judge will figure, well, that too close call but I gave it to this fighter because of this criteria and this round didn't look much different so I will give it to him again...and so on and so forth. Trade off close rounds may be the only answer to some close fights. Just my opinion.

    No, no, no, no, no.

It defeats the entire purpose of having a ten point must RBR system, and makes it completely arbitrary. So all one has to do to get a draw under your methodology is avoid getting knocked out and make every round "kinda close" (so that you alternate back and forth at random awarding 10-9 splits by turn rather than on the basis of the action in each round viewed in a vacuum)

Ridiculous. You may as well score on facial damage or the old amateur "touch count" or some other such nonsense if you're going to stray that far away from the spirit of the established normative standard.

I don't mean kinda close rounds, I mean like Pac-JMM rounds, real head splitters to score. But if you can elaborate on your vacuum term that would be much appreciated.

Each round should ALWAYS be scored in a vacuum.

That means on its own individual basis as though it were its own little 3 minute fight.

You should NEVER place rounds in context of some "bigger picture" influenced by previous rounds or momentum. (Ie one guy loses three very clear rounds and then rallies in the fourth, doing better in cimparative terms but still in a round that would ordinarily be close but clear to his opponent. Many people give that round for the guy that has been losing, as kind of a "marks for improvement" badge or some crap and that is WRONG!)

I'll have to try not giving what transpired in previous rounds any consideration even though I think the judges do. I think what happens is not that they are giving him one sympathy rounds on a conscious level (which I don't think happens much) they are just lulled to sleep by the one sidedness of the fight, when they are suddenly awoke by the repetitive loser they get themselves to believe he won that round.
