Great article ,it was disappointing because :

The way Oscar fought in the last few rds

And Trinidad was handed a gift.

One of the biggest robberies of all time.

whether you like the decision or not, at least the best and most popular fighters at the time fought each other. Floyd and Pac can learn from these two. And even tho the outcome was disapointing, we (the fans) got the fight we wanted. I remembered that fight and the atmosphere that night. It was electrifying!!!

    Not even close.

Ole Fishnets gave away the last three rounds by doing his best impersonation of Jessie Owens. He *deserved* to lose...

Only thing more disappointing than the decision was the actual fight which failed to meet the hype, it was meant to be this generations Leonard/Hearns.

It wasn't the biggest robbery in terms of the difference in scoring, but it's impossible the rationally give Tito more than 5 rounds. It wasn't a difficult fight to score. Only way you could see Tito winning is if you regard one or two good Trinidad punches as equal to a dozen De La Hoya jabs, a few left hooks an right hands and a flurry or 2 the body.

There were some rounds where neither guy was doing anything really. Some of those Oscar flurries weren't really landing, but of course Jim Lampley and the audience acted like they were.

There's been much worse, but I still scored it for Oscar regardless.

    Oscar won
He probably beat Shane in the rematch too

Whitaker on the other hand is a much closer fight

Oscar is a legit proper all time great who fought everyone

So underrated because his looks make haters insecure a he had a huge female fan base

I honestly think the Quartey decision was worse

No. Personally I scored the fight a draw or Trinidad by one point. That said, the notion that this fight was a robbery is beyond STUPID.

    This was NO robbery.

Yeah, I think the last round makes people forget how many rounds DLH stood around and did nothing. Not that Quartey was doing much either, but he was doing more than Oscar. Not a difficult fight to score. DLH got lucky there.

Also, rounds 6 and 12 make people forget what an average fight that really was. In the other 10 rounds, there would be an occassional good exchange, and then they would just pose and do little. Not really a skillful, Leonard/Benitez-like chessmatch either. It was a posefest.

    :deal

Whenever the topic of de la Hoya Trinidad comes up, the Oscars3xuals become quiet when Quartey's name is mentioned.

No they don't, they claim he clearly won because of the last round.

I cannot fathom how any objective person can say Oscar clearly won. The best you could do for Oscar is giving it to him by one point, and that is being VERY, VERY generous to Oscar.

I would like to know what 6 rounds Oscar won and what he actually did in that round to win it, other than make George Foreman drool about his amazing shoulders and how "not much is a lot" for him.

The fight was easy to score.

    The majority of the rounds:

Ike does little. Oscar does even less.

    10-9 Quartey
