Japanese debutant to face #6 ranked fighter!

    Whilst everyone is talking about Vasyl Lomachenko fighting Jose Ramirez (#7 WBO Featherweight) on his debut, a Japanese youngster is attempting to go one better.

    18 year old Kosei Tanaka will be making his debut on November 10th, he's scheduled to take on Indonesia Oscar Raknafa (#6 WBO Minimumweight).

    Could be well worth taking a note of Kosei Tanaka's name, as it appears his team will be fast tracking him like Ohashi Gym did with Naoya Inoue and Ioka Gym did with Kazuto Ioka.

    That's because there's no one worth a damn at Minimumweight. I'm being serious. There's only a handful of boxers at that weight that can even fight.

    There are plenty of decent fighters at 105, a number of whom don't hold titles (so are eligible for rankings) including
    Budler
    Silvester
    Lopez
    Cuello
    Menayothin
    Buitrago
    Hara
    Pigmy Kokietgym
    Yodngoen Tor Chalermchai
    Knockout CP Freshmart
    And Muhammad Rachman recently returned to the ring too

    Straw is pretty shallow relative to a lot of divisions.

    Pretty shallow, but not totally void of talent, for a debutant, with out any Olympic success to be targeting such a highly ranked guy is to be commended! Jesus we had British fans raving about the Italian chap Anthony Joshua turned pro against but yet Tanaka's having his opponent downplayed...

    Oh it's definitely commendable and nothing to sneeze at but I'm just not ready to say Raknafa is as impressive a fiery baptism as Ramirez...rather less, I'd say, irrespective of alphabet ranking.

    good stuff, i like hearing about japanese boxers, they are very exciting to watch and are talented. My only gripe is that they rarely fight outside of japan and no one wants to go to japan to fight them (which is understandable due to boxing politics in japan). I would of loved to see takashi uchiyama vs broner, but that will never happen

    Are the boxing politics in Japan really much worse than in the US? In recent months we've seen a Spanish guy and a Thai win in world title fights in Japan whilst a Belgian and a number of Mexicans have were beaten in world title fights.

    In the next few months a South African, a Thai and a Nicaraguan are all scheduled to fight in world title fights over there.

    I say be excited about Kenshiro Teraji. He fight Heri Amol on debut soon and he maybe even more talent than "KO Dream Boy" and "Monster" Inoue.

    A handful of talented fighters but by far the easiest division to get a title shot at. Second easiest would be Heavyweight if WLadimir was to retire.
