Hopkins is a much bigger name than Kovalev.

Hopkins saying he wants to fight the 147 lb. Mayweather seems like a more blatant attempt to keep his name in the news, especially with more casual fans since casual boxing fans in the US only watch 2 fighters, and Floyd is one of them.

I like Kovalev and think he is the future at light heavy and even beats Hopkins if they fight but your post reeks of inaccuracy and obvious bias.

Hopkins is a well known fighter, with a great career, does he really need Kovalev as much as Kovalev needs him. Hopkins is wealthy has a great legacy and has options other than Kovalev like Stevenson. Hopkins last fight drew the same number of figures as Kovalev's last fight so Hopkins hardly needs attention by throwing out Kovalev's name when he has as many fans if not more.

If Hopkins has no intention of fighting him, why did he agree to fight him before when Kovalev was mandatory? Why call him out now when many know Showtime want him against Stevenson and many fans understand Hopkins/Kovalev is a hard fight to make on rival networks. He gains nothing from calling Kovalev out other than as a bargaining tool with Stevenson.

Hopkins has called Kovalev out twice now. Will Kovalev agree this time and begin negotiations or will his management steer him a way again to the Cleverley's of the division. If there isn't at least an attempt to make the fight from Kovalev's team this time then it would seem it's Kovalev who would be ducking Hopkins. Hopkins has made it clear twice now he's willing to fight Kovalev, will Kovalev be willing this time?

Sounds like Hopkins wants to put pressure on Stevenson to make the fight.

I doubt he has any interest in a Kovalev fight, but if he does and he thinks he can win then more power to him.

    Hopkins-Shumenov did 760,000 viewers

    Kovalev-Agnew did over 1 Million

How pathetic is it that this unknown immigrant is more popular than the mighy B-Hop. So yes Hopkins is piggybacking off Kovalev's name because he knows he isn't a draw

Multi weight world, who has beaten a host of HOF fighters in his long and illustrious career, and who currently holds a more prestigious belt, needs a guy whose biggest claim to fame is beating Nathan Cleverly to gain recognition....

    Yeah, thats makes sense.

NBA playoffs would have effected the viewing figures for Hopkins/Shumenov. Hopkins drew a million for Murat. Which is higher than what Stevenson drew for Fonfara.

Kovalev and Hopkins are both good draws, better than some horrible human being in Stevenson anyway.

I just hope this fight gets made. Seems Hopkins reason for calling out Kovalev now is Stevenson's legal issues are delaying the fight to maybe 2015 and with Hopkins mandatory pending which nobody cares about, Kovalev is the next best option for a good payday. Let's hope Kovalev's team agrees to the fight.

If that fight was on HBO instead of Showtime, Hop would have drew more viewers.

"But guys Hopkins is a HOF and his resume guys" - ESB tards

Hopkins previous accomplishments are irrelevant except for one: his inability to pull numbers. If both Kovalev and Hopkins are on free TV fighting nobodies, Kovalev outdraws him, period. Look at the facts.

It doesn't matter how long Hopkins has been in the sport, RIGHT NOW Kovalev has more star power. Do people even remember the Hopkins-Dawson PPV disaster? Hopkins is a negative fighter who has become even more negative as he's aged. Kovalev is what casuals tune in for.

Hopkins is piggybacking off Kovalev right now. He's piggybacked off many people before due to his lack of a fanbase and shitty style.

For every time he says "Kovalev" he is that much less likely to even think about fighting him.
