"Mayweather has been on the list since 2007, but dropped out of the ranking after he took a brief retirement from professional boxing following his split decision win over Oscar de la Hoya."

Manny lost it as soon as Mayweather came back and dominated Marquez.... Mayweather has been p4p king since 2009......

Mayweather was p4p king from late 2004.... to 2007....

Manny was p4p #1 from early 2008> mid 2009... only...

Who did Mayweather beat to become number 1 P4P?

Pacquiao lost the number 1 spot following the robbery to Bradley and then the KO loss to Marquez.

At around this time Mayweather became number 1.

So, did Mayweather beat a legit P4P fighter to earn his spot or did he get it by default because Pacquiao lost?

It's not about being number 1 it's about being on the list for so long ..

Pacquiao only made P4P #1 because Floyd retired.

    I quite agree.

I just wonder how Mayweather managed to become number 1 when his post retirement opposition has been so ordinary. I'm pretty sure Mayweather didn't beat any top P4P fighter to get the number 1 spot. He was gifted it by default because Pacquiao lost, he didn't earn it.

Agreed the only he beat that was on the p4p list was Marquez but when he beat him I'd don't know where he was ranked .

    Get real.

Pacquiao earned it the old fashioned way.

Mayweather retired because he didn't want the rematch with Dela Hoya (add that to the long list of ducks).

    Great achievement!

And as usual, here comes the ***** brigade trying to trumphet Mayweather in a thread that's not about him.
