Many people give the poor exemple that Lara was dropped twice by Angulo but they forget that Angulo was in better shape against Lara and also that Lara made Angulo quit due of the severe damages. In that fight was not a referee, doctor or corner stoppage, so Lara put a more severe beating on Angulo (a better version of Angulo) than Canelo did.

The Trout fights. Here there's no doubt that Canelo almost struggled to win this fight, yeah he won it but very difficult. On the other hand Lara put a boxing lesson on Trout. He simply owned him.

Lara's main big issue is his soft chin. Canelo can hit hard with both hands and he has good speed but he has stiff legs. I'm curious to see if Lara will be able to take Canelo's shots, of course if Canelo will have the chance to land them.

I think it's more a question of the style match-up - Lara's clearly a better boxer than Perro but didn't like his come forward aggression whereas Canelo just timed and countered him all night.

Against Trout's relatively inactive counterpunching style Lara had the time and space to fight his own fight using his greater speed and mobility to dominate.

I find this quite an intriguing matchup, I've always liked Lara (and have a soft spot for the Cubans in general) but 'Nelos only started growing on me more recently. If Canelo can apply consistant come forward pressure I think Lara could struggle, but if Nelo relies on his counterpunching and doesn't force the pace I could see Lara picking him off from the outside.

I can't picture Canelo doing that. He's content to try to box with his opponent or just sit back and counter-punch if they're come-forward guys. He was huffing and puffing during the Angulo fight, and he wasn't moving much either, honestly. He was also pressured and corned by fcking Mayweather. :patsch

I'm pretty sure that Canelo will go there for the kill, throwing awesome combinations with bad intentions but Lara isn't there to be hit ! Canelo is a stiff legged fighter. His hands are fast but his legs are not. Also I think Lara is the fighter who has more pop in his hands than Canelo.

Isn't he? Angulo, the slowest boxer in the game had no problem hitting him at all.

:-( how the fight ended isn't relevant to your saying lara isn't there to be hit and his saying angulo is slow yet hit him often, bro.

Lara isn't going to be able to be on his toes the entire night. Canelo will be able to close distance and fight on the inside. Lara is not a good inside fighter as he just likes to keep his guard up and not throw punches when his opponent is in his chest for the most part. And Lara cannot fight off the back foot well. Lara will be in the fight for his ability to land the straight left, but, Canelo isn't that slow nor is he inaccurate. I think Canelo knocks him out in the late rounds.

The Lara - Angulo fight showed that you can get to Lara if you apply smart pressure...the question becomes, to me, can Canelo apply enough pressure to get to Erislandy Lara? Canelo is naturally a boxer puncher but if he's being out boxed(and Lara WILL outbox him early) can he hunt his opponent down and turn his brain off to just go for damage/knockdowns etc? That's what makes this fight so interesting in my mind is how Canelo handles a very slick dangerous boxer with some real pop in his punches. This fight will reveal how special Canelo really is, or isn't
