Carnera was just a circus freak who turned to boxing. Most of his victories were mob fixes. He had a lot less punching power than his frame would suggest. He is about level with Valuev in my opinion. Not a good fighter, Stiverne is better.

Stiverne has the tools to beat Louis.

    You're overrating Stiverne big time.

The sole qualification for the bum of the month club was being born in the wrong era.

If you are unfortunate enough to be born while Louis is champion, and he beats you, then you are just another bum of the month.

Stiverne is exactly the king of fighter that ended up in the glove, and forgotten by history!

Just because Bermane Stiverne beat Chris Arreola twice doesn't mean that he can come close to matching Joe Louis in terms of talent and skills, let alone accomplishments.

Accomplishments are meaningless in H2H to add the the fact that Louis mostly fought dreadful opponents. Stiverne is better than anyone Louis ever faced. Glass Joe wasn't that hard to put down and Stiverne has the skills to do it. Louis drops his Left arm after a jab and Bermane will crack him with a counter right. Louis goes down!
Louis wasn't a slick boxer. He didn't move his body or head much when he fought.

I think the Louis myth has really taken hold on this thread..

And I guess this would be the birth of the Bermane Stiverne myth...

My favorite was way back, when somebody said Stiverne was 'too black' for Louis. What does that mean?
But he did beat theeee Chris Arreola twice and that has to count for something.

I guess he meant the blacker the skin the tougher the fighter. I guess growing up in the AA community being dark skinned means you gotta take more **** and get in more fights. Kind of like a boy named Sue.

Carnera gets underrated but Stiverne clearly has better defence, handspeed, use of feints, head movement, use of angles and coordination. Carnera is simply bigger though, which is a strength in itself.

Stiverne is better than Carnera in every department that I can see, unless stamping on opponents feet is a skill?

Stiverne shots his jabs from a hip and Louis comes over it with a right hand and short hooks inside. Goodnight.

But Joe would have to be very sharp not to get slapped with a counter.
