YDKSAB. There's a difference between athleticism and counter punching ability. A good counter puncher makes his opponent think about every punch they throw with the fear the being countered. That's what JMM does.

Floyd on of the other hand is super overrated as an counter-puncher. He couldn't counter punch for **** when the other guy is all over him. He waits until the other guy finished throwing before he opens up. That's why he nearly lost to Maidana while Alexander schooled him. Floyd doesn't actively counter-punch. He waits and take advantage of openings using his speed and athleticism.

Marquez fights nothing like Mayweather. Maidana would never walk Marquez down and have him on the defensive for the entire fight the way he had Floyd defending on the ropes non stop. He counters and opens up in exchanges completely differently to Mayweather.
