Was switching from 15 round to 12 rounds a good choice?

same here, I feel we'd have a more definite winner if they fought all 15 rounds

on the other hand it's not me getting punched in the face for 15 rounds

It's good for the health of the boxers, what I don't like is that it favors pure boxers. It's makes it easier for them to win on the cards as it is less likely they will tire from the movement or to catch them with the accumulation of shots necessary to take them out.

Yes. It's so sad watching videos of how some boxers talk and move post-career. More should be done to protect fighters.

Yes for the fighters. entertainment wise..no. but for the fighters yes.

i do question how much is due to in ring wars...and how much of the damage is due to sparring or training right after a fight....without medical clearance...or sparring too early.

Roman Simakov died in 6 rounds

Mago got put in acoma in 12

corners referees should be more vigalent and responsable , number of rounds wont stop serious injuries

Your partially right, but most fighters get exhausted and their defense gets shitty in the last rounds of a 12 rounder, leaving them open to more flush shots, increasing the possibility of more injuries, most guys don't have the stamina to go 12 much less 15.

To come to the defense of corner referees, any punch can be a punch that can seriously injure someone. You have to watch out for the fighter, but also stay true to your job and the sport. It's a thin line.

Look at Gatti-Ward. Any one of those punches could have seriously injured them. It's hard to tell.

    health wise = yes

fighters used to fight dead on there feet....

for the last 4 rds.... sure.... it made for more entertaining conclusion but for the long term sustainability of the sport it was a must...

i think 10rds is the way forward. boxer's health is a very important issue....

true but thats where corners and referees should come in and stop fights when they see there fighter weakening and probebly has no chance to win anyway

i taught the mago fight should have been stopped a few rounds earlier, mago was looking slow taken a lot of shots and something about him didnt seem right he looked dazed ( although i might be slightly bias on this as i had perez to win by knock out and lost a but of money on it)

Of course. 15 rounds causes more injuries and potential deaths. That's 9 more minutes of getting punched in the head and being at higher risk of brain injuries.

Before anyone says "Well it's a dangerous sport, they know what they're getting themselves in to." Exactly, it' a dangerous SPORT, it's still a SPORT, not ancient Rome style, fight-to-death-to-please-the-fans. I am pleased with the 12 rounds of action, sometimes less, and feel like this sport is already dangerous enough.
