Well, is he? He started at JMW, and won a title at HW. He also beat Toney and Hopkins, two top 20 ATGs.

No he did not have his tests. His most prominent foes have been a still up and coming Bernard Hopkins, an apparently out of form James Toney who could already have been struggling with weight issues at the time, and an already old 40 year old Mike McCallum. There's simply not much to go by to rate him, He did not have any single defining fight in his prime, And he was very vulnerable and beatable when he aged.

My idea of the best boxer is one who could still find a way to win against formidable foes even as he gets old and loses much of his physical gifts like speed, quick reflexes and power. Like Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali who adapted and re-invented themselves to remain not only competitive but conquerors as they aged.

One of the most entertaining fighters to ever pull on a glove, and without doubt an ATG. But no, not the greatest P4P ever.

    No, and not even close.

A better question would be which divisin he could genuinely be ranked high in!

This is pitiful for a fighter of his ability!

Head to head he showed enough to be considered for top place. Accomplishment-wise he's not in top 15.

    Easily

Ray Robinson really couldn't hold Roy's jock strap

    Let's be honest

Ray was a f@g in a pink Cadillac who sucked dick and got beat on by Turpin and no skill having la motta

Roy bested 2 of the greatest boxers of all time, in their primes and then won the hw title

I think Duran is close to Roy but jones jnr is the goat

Jones is top 25-30. Great but not in that extremely special class

Is SRR #1? No, just ask Ralph Tiger Jones (coming in with a record of 32-12-3 and on a 5-fight losing streak).

Head to head? Who the **** did he prove ATG status against head to head? Rickie Frazier?

Was Roy coming off a two year lay off when he fought Tarver? No. Robinson was when he fought Jones (who was a pretty good fighter, but you wouldnt know that because it wasnt written to a newspaper article crammed up Roy's ass: Your personal reading room.)

    P4P he's probably 30th.

H2H, probably GOAT. Him or SRR.

He has a DOMINANT performing win over a monster in prime Toney.
