After Mayweather's career is done where do you think he will be ranked? Do you think he will be up there with Sugar Ray Robinson? I think he will be the greatest welterweight of this generation. Reason is, because he went through a lot of fighters. Plus he's undefeated and is a technical wizard at what he does in the ring. That much can't be disputed.
His career was too WWE-like. Anyone who called him the best would be bombarded with asterisks about his negotiation tactics and shy away from proving such a subjective topic. Also, a large part of being considered "the greatest" historically is making it difficult for your critics. For example Ali is defended from fair criticism because he's a cultural icon foremost and a boxer second. If you bring up the asterisks of his career like being KOd/cheating vs Cooper you will be swarmed by fanatics until you give up. Mayweather is very easy to criticize and unremarkable outside of boxing so no matter how good he was in the ring he doesn't have that "legend" factor.
Nope. Ray Robinson has been mythologized so much that even if someone were to crack the top 5 (which is impossible for Floyd to do at this point) he would still never come close to Robinson's legend. When I think of boxing I think Robinson. Anyway when Floyd retires he'll be pretty high up there after the passage of time. Fighters legends grow with time. The same will happen to Floyd. But make no mistake he'll never be close to Sugar Ray Robinson.

How can he be the greatest when another fighter was crown "fighter of the decade" on the same decade they ruled in? Greatest ducker maybe.
When did I mention Manny Pacquaio there or claim Manny Pacquaio was the greatest of all time? What are you on about? I was just saying regardless of how good Floyd is, his career lacks the social mystique that turns someone into a true legend in the eyes of the mainstream. I have minimal interest in Manny vs Floyd and probably wouldn't have even bought the PPV had they fought years ago. That's such a boring topic.
