And none of the three agreed to fight him when they got his offers.

Depends how good his offer was, i know Holyfield and Tyson were pretty broke at the time and Lewis was close to retirement?

    :rofl:patsch

Roy was in no position to be offering fights to any of the 3. I can't believe you posted something like this. You seriously think THE Heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis should be taking orders from Roy Jones?:rofl

They were offered to start negotiations. None wanted to even start to discuss a possible bout.

Roy was the WBA titlist. Lewis had just barely got past Klitschko.

More than likely due to the fact that they probably didnt take him seriously rather than they ducked him

Tell me who Roy beat at MW to be considered top 5? Hopkins? One win over an ATG does not make someone top 5.

haha do you need even answer his post? he was biased and it is obvious.
the only truth that he said was the best supermw, he is not top 5 mw in legacy and he is not top 2 at lhw.ezzard charles, archie moore, bob foster, genne tunney are greater in legacy at lhw, and i can“t see any of these men losing by ko vs antonio tarver at any point of their careers

I'm caught between sometimes giving him too much credit for that, but sometimes not enough either.

Ruiz was a solid enough fighter but I do feel too that Roy picked on the one titlist he could beat. It was a calculated risk, and one has to give him a lot of credit for easily beating a genuine heavyweight.

But at the same time, I think he knew his options were limited there and for me he wanted no part of Lewis, who would have half-killed him. Still, the fact that he started at 154 as a young prospect and managed to win a part of the heavyweight title must be given due credit.
Superb achievement, even if it sounds more impressive on paper than it really was. (Still damn impressive though.)

I'm wondering if some people sub consciously judge Roy for his past prime losses.

then his record would be very poor, because he did not beat anyone relevant at lhw, mccallum was a super welter and he was finished, monten griffin are you kidding me? reggie johnson a 33 years old mw, julio cesar gonzales inflated record against tomato cans, tarver was 1 year older than roy, no excuse, leff lacy was a decent supermw

Tarver was 1 year older than Jones and after cocaine abuse.

At least Jones beat McCallum, Pazienza, Vaca, weak as cancer sick James Toney, enjoyed a scam over Griffin in their 2nd, cheated vs Griffin in their 1st, failed 2 beat Hopkins.

Shot Merqui Sosa, inexperienced Clinton Woods and inexperienced Julio Cesar Gonzalez are Jones' top wins.
Luckily someone bribed some people in the Letterlough fight, to make sure Jones gets Gonzalez and not Letterlough, or else, another red line would have marked the end of Jones' prime.
Vs Ruiz it is just so small a win, that even after multiplying it by the magnitude of size disadvantage against the natural cruiserweight Ruiz, and the 3 yrs advantage of Ruiz, it remains a small win. But may still be big enough a win to be a top 3 win for Jones.
And BTW, Jones did win the Hopkins rematch via clean body punch KO.
But, as old and shot as Jones was considered by then, Hopkins was 4 yrs older.

Guys, RJJ was 36 or 37 before he lost.
Cant put him over Sugar RR or a few more, but argument for top 10 is strong.
Had he retired after Ruiz or Tarver 1, where would he be?
Ive been a big fight fan for 35 years, and in his prime ive never seen anyone better in my lifetime.
    But not #1.
